About this experience
Trying is about studying - on this tour we enjoy typical delicacies in addition to historical and current background information from various market stalls. A variety of culinary discoveries and delights await you. Due to our numerous partners on the market, we put together a different selection of tasting stations for each tour. We will no longer eat our market delicacies directly in the middle of the market, but on the edge, as we have more space there.

Viktualienmarkt
Viktualienmarkt, who doesn’t make your mouth water at this word? An incomparable aroma unfolds here on 22,000 sqm: delicatessen and vegetables, fish and meat, bread and cheese, flowers and juices, fruit and antipasti, eggs and potatoes. Diversity and the highest quality are what make the market so attractive. We try delicacies from up to 8 stands and have, for example, prepared these delicacies for you: • Refreshing or warming organic welcome drink - prepared for you depending on the season • hearty sausage specialties • Double-baked farmer's crust bread • Bavarian antipasti • Munich's best fresh pretzels • exquisite cheese variation • exotic and regional fruit • freshly squeezed fruit juice We start our tour at the Isartor, where we are given a welcome drink from the Demeter-certified St. Michaelshof. We walk along the old city wall until we get to the Viktualienmarkt. At Bablers Räucherkistl we can look forward to a plate with smoked sausage specialties. We also serve the famous and multi-award-winning double-baked farmer's crust bread from Bäckerliesl, which, at over 90 years old, is the oldest woman on the market. Of course, vegetarians are not neglected either: we offer an exotic fruit platter from the neighboring fruit and vegetable shop. Countless stories during the tour lead us through the history of the market to the present: How did the Viktualienmarkt actually come about? When did the market women dance? Where do market people take their goods to in the evening? How do you get to a stand and how much do stand owners have to pay to the city? At the Sauren Eck we taste fresh antipasti with olives, pickled vegetables and various seasonal specialties. Let yourself be surprised! There are also fresh pretzels - praised by many Munich residents as the best in the city - from Karnoll's bakery and coffee shops. Finally, we have prepared a plate with delicate cheese specialties, because it is known that this closes the stomach. Try Munich's best obazdn and unusual cheeses. To round off the tour, there is still a freshly squeezed juice for each guest. In addition to trying, we answer your questions, introduce the stands and stand owners and show you some unknown corners of the market.

The perfect blend of beer, history, and enjoyment
The afternoon beer tour was a real highlight of our stay in Munich. From the beginning, everything was excellently organized, and the tour offered the perfect blend of exciting information, interesting insights into the art of brewing, and a good dose of humor. Our guide knew perfectly how to convey his knowledge in a relaxed and entertaining way. You could feel the passion for Munich's beer culture in every moment. The tastings were excellently selected and provided an authentic insight into the variety of regional beers. The warm atmosphere throughout the entire tour is particularly worth highlighting. There was enough time left for questions, conversations, and exchanging ideas with the other participants, which further enriched the experience. A big thank you to the entire team for the perfect organization and execution. We can recommend the beer tour without reservation and would participate again at any time. Anyone who wants to experience Munich and its beer culture in an authentic, exciting, and enjoyable way has come to the right place.

a perfect tour
The meeting point was at the Isartor; it was a super nice group. Ms. Kilian welcomed us and explained everything. I had indicated in advance that I am a vegetarian (she was aware of it). My friend is in a wheelchair (I had also indicated that beforehand). Ms. Kilian was considerate from the very first minute and thus provided her with a super nice tour. Ms. Kilian LIVES and loves Munich; that was really very, very nice and also interesting for us Munich locals. There is always something new. The food is more than sufficient; it is a lot, a lot. And it tastes really very, very good. We were thrilled. I can really only recommend it. The weather was great for us, so it was a perfect day.

Great tasting tour of the Viktualienmarkt
We gave the tour to a friend for her birthday. The five of us were all very satisfied. There was plenty to eat, the city guide told stories very vividly and was humorous. We all liked it very, very much. Highly recommended.

Why this scores 74
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Viktualienmarkt tasting tour: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Munich.
How much does Viktualienmarkt tasting tour cost?
+
Prices start at $22 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Munich usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Viktualienmarkt tasting tour take?
+
Plan for about 2 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Munich is not rushed.
Is Viktualienmarkt tasting tour worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 74 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.7/5 across 107 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Munich, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Viktualienmarkt tasting tour?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Viktualienmarkt tasting tour suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Viktualienmarkt tasting tour?
+
Around 37 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Munich can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Munich and add a light layer if any part of the 2-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Viktualienmarkt tasting tour start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Munich within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Munich?
+
On Outty we rank every Munich experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Guided Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial Site Tour with Train from Munich, Munich Classic Bike Tour @ 11.30am with Surfers & beergarden stop, Dachau Memorial Half-Day Tour from Munich (Early-Start). The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Munich?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Munich?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
