About this experience

This workshop is more than a craft class – it's a doorway into the soulful world of Vietnamese culture, where beauty is made by hand and stories are woven into every thread. You’ll experience a rare and meaningful tradition that exists only in Vietnam: the art of Cói weaving – using natural sedge harvested in wetlands and shaped through centuries of knowledge passed from mother to daughter. Unlike commercial souvenirs, you’ll make your own eco-friendly artwork, guided by a local artisan who carries the memory of her ancestors’ hands. The space itself is quiet and warm, designed to help you slow down, breathe deeply, and create with intention. As you weave, you’ll also learn about Vietnamese values – simplicity, harmony, and resilience – through stories, rituals, and friendly conversation. This experience is perfect for mindful travelers, cultural seekers, and anyone looking for a gift that carries real meaning. Only in Vietnam – only in this moment – only with your own two hands

Very good

Highly recommended! Uyen is a brilliant, patient teacher who provides a great introduction to traditional Vietnamese weaving. She is also an expert on life in Hanoi and shared several helpful recommendations with us.

A fascinating experience with Vietnamese culture

Had such a chill time at here! The hosts were super friendly and explained everything in a really fun, easy-going way. I got to try by myself and honestly, it was way harder than it looks 😅 but so worth it. The whole vibe felt super authentic, not touristy at all. If you’re in Hanoi and wanna experience some real local culture, this spot is low-key a gem.

Special Experience

I booked this last minute and didn’t expect it to be this special. There’s something very grounding about weaving. I felt surprisingly relaxed after.

Great experience

It was a very wonderful experience, the first time I was able to make crafts from sedge under Uyen's enthusiastic guidance. A good and quality workshop, you should try it

Vietnamese Traditional Handweaving Workshop in Hanoi: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Hanoi.

How much does Vietnamese Traditional Handweaving Workshop in Hanoi cost?

+

Prices start at $19 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Hanoi usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Vietnamese Traditional Handweaving Workshop in Hanoi take?

+

Plan for about 3.3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Hanoi is not rushed.

Is Vietnamese Traditional Handweaving Workshop in Hanoi worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 68 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 11 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Hanoi, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Vietnamese Traditional Handweaving Workshop in Hanoi?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Vietnamese Traditional Handweaving Workshop in Hanoi suitable for kids and families?

+

The operator sets a minimum age of 5. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 3.3-hour running time when deciding.

How far in advance should I book Vietnamese Traditional Handweaving Workshop in Hanoi?

+

Around 4 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Hanoi can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Hanoi and add a light layer if any part of the 3.3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Vietnamese Traditional Handweaving Workshop in Hanoi start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Hanoi within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Hanoi?

+

On Outty we rank every Hanoi experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Ninh Binh Day Trip from Hanoi with Tam Coc or Trang An & Mua Cave, Ha Giang Loop Tour 4 Days 3 Nights with Ha Giang Vision Tour, Halong Bay Day Tour With Titop Island, Cave, Kayak & Lunch. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Hanoi?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Hanoi?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
