1. Hofburg

   The Hofburg is the former principal imperial palace of the Habsburg dynasty in Austria. Located in the center of Vienna, it was built in the 13th century by Ottokar II of Bohemia and expanded several times afterwards. It also served as the imperial winter residence, as Schönbrunn Palace was the summer residence.

2. Maria Theresia Denkmal

   The Maria Theresa Memorial is one of the most important monuments of the Habsburg monarchy in Vienna. It commemorates Empress Maria Theresa, who ruled the Habsburg monarchy from 1740 to 1780. The monument stands since 1888 on the Maria-Theresien-Platz between the Art History Museum, which opened in 1891, and the Natural History Museum, which opened in 1889.

3. Naturhistorisches Museum Wien

   The Natural History Museum in London is a museum that exhibits a vast range of specimens from various segments of natural history. It is one of three major museums on Exhibition Road in South Kensington, the others being the Science Museum and the Victoria and Albert Museum. The Natural History Museum's main frontage, however, is on Cromwell Road.

4. Osterreichisches Parlament

   The Austrian Parliament Building in Vienna is the meeting place of the two houses of the Austrian Parliament. The building is located on the Ringstraße in the first district, Innere Stadt, near Hofburg Palace and the Palace of Justice.

5. Burgtheater

   The Burgtheater Court Theater", originally known as K.K. Theater an der Burg, then until 1918 as the K.K. Hofburgtheater, is the national theater of Austria in Vienna. It is the most important German-language theater and one of the most important theatres in the world.

6. Vienna University of Economics and Business

   The University of Vienna (German: Universität Wien, Austrian German: [univɛrsiˈtɛːt ˈviːn]) is a public research university in Vienna, Austria. Founded by Duke Rudolph IV in 1365, it is the oldest university in the German-speaking world and among the largest institutions of higher learning in Europe.[3] The university is associated with 17 Nobel Prize winners and has been the home to many scholars of historical and academic importance.

7. Am Hof

   Am Hof" is one of the most historically significant squares in Vienna's city center. It is located between Bognergasse, Naglergasse, Heidenschuss, Färbergasse, Judenplatz, and Schulhof, in the oldest part of the city, in the immediate vicinity of the medieval ghettos.

8. A revolutionary (Trotsky), a psychoanalyst (Freud), several writers and poets (including Polgar, Zweig and Altenberg) and an architect (Loos) walked into a café. What sounds like the start of a joke was an everyday occurrence at Café Central (est. 1876). Over coffee, cake and the odd cigar, some of the greatest poets, philosophers and – it has to be said – storytellers the world has ever seen, got together in Vienna’s most attractive coffeehouse.

9. Concerts at Capuchin Church Vienna

   The Minoritenkirche, formally called Italienische Nationalkirche Maria Schnee, was built in French Gothic style in the Altstadt or First District of Vienna, Austria. The site on which the church is built was given to followers of Francis of Assisi in 1224.

10. St. Michael's Church

    Saint Michael's Church (German: Michaelerkirche) is one of the oldest churches in Vienna, Austria, and also one of its few remaining Romanesque buildings. Dedicated to the Archangel Michael, St. Michael's Church is located at Michaelerplatz across from St. Michael's Gate at the Hofburg Palace. St. Michael's used to be the parish church of the Imperial Court, when it was called Zum heiligen Michael.

11. Spanish Riding School

    The Spanish Riding School is an Austrian institution based in Vienna, dedicated to the preservation of classical dressage and the training of Lipizzaner horses, whose performances in the Hofburg are also a tourist attraction. The leading horses and riders of the school also periodically tour and perform worldwide.

12. Austrian National Library

    The Austrian National Library is the largest library in Austria, with more than 12 million items in its various collections. The library is located in the Neue Burg Wing of the Hofburg in center of Vienna. Since 2005, some of the collections have been relocated within the Baroque structure of the Palais Mollard-Clary

13. Albertina

    The Albertina is a museum in the Innere Stadt (First District) of Vienna, Austria. It houses one of the largest and most important print rooms in the world with approximately 65,000 drawings and approximately 1 million old master prints, as well as more modern graphic works, photographs and architectural drawings. Apart from the graphics collection the museum has acquired, on permanent loan two significant collections of Impressionist and early 20th-century art, some of which are on permanent display.

14. The Vienna State Opera is a historic opera house and opera company based in Vienna, Austria. The 1,709-seat Renaissance Revival venue was the first major building on the Vienna Ring Road.

15. On the site of the demolished Kärntnertor Theater, directly across from the newly opened Imperial and Royal Court Opera, a furnished residence was built. The restaurateur Eduard Sacher acquired the building, which was designed to resemble a Renaissance palace, and in 1876 opened the Hotel de l’Opera with a restaurant. The son of Franz Sacher, the inventor of the Sachertorte, Eduard had already made a name for himself in the restaurant business and soon renamed the establishment Hotel Sacher.

16. There was a Moulin Rouge in Vienna at three historical locations: before 1911, it was at Weihburggasse 11; from 1920 to 1938, at Weihburggasse 9 on the corner of Liliengasse 3; and only after 1945 at Walfischgasse 11 in Vienna’s Inner City. Each of the three locations has a different history and was not institutionally connected to the others.

17. Musikverein

    The Wiener Musikverein, commonly shortened to Musikverein, is a concert hall in Vienna, Austria, which is located in the Innere Stadt district. The building opened in 1870 and is the home of the Vienna Philharmonic orchestra.

18. Upper Belvedere Palace

    The Belvedere is a historic building complex in Vienna, Austria consisting of two Baroque palaces, the Orangery, and the Palace Stables. The buildings are set in a Baroque park landscape in the third district of the city, on the south-eastern edge of its centre.
