At the end of the 17th century, Emperor Leopold I. commissioned the baroque architect Berhard Fischer von Erlach to build a palatial hunting lodge. Later, during Maria Theresia`s reign, Schönbrunner Palace became the imperial summer residence and glamorous centre of the court life. Today the baroque Palace and its gardens are a UNESCO World Heritage Site and Austria`s most-visited Tourist attraction. The Privy Garden is part of the Meidling Kammergärten adjacent to the eastern facade of the palace. It received ist german name Kronprinzengarten (Crown Prince Garden) around 1870, after apartements were furnished for Crown Prince Rudolf on the gorund Floor of this wing. It was used as the imperial family`s private garden till the end of the monarchy in 1918. The maze in the park at Schönbrunn Palace actually consists of three parts: the maze, the labyrinth and the Labyrinthikon playground. The maze was initially laid out around 1720 and then gradually abandoned until the last hedges were felled in 1892. In 1999 it was reconstructed based on historical models over an area of 1715 qm. 189 m long and 10 m wide, the Schönbrunn Orangery is one of the 2 largest baroque orangeries in the world, the other being at Versailles. Due to wheather conditions, the presenation from October till mid-May focuses only winter-hardy, fruit bearing trees and schrubs.

Waste of money
I honestly feel scammed. I’ve just left my second location where I would have to pay extra for a tour or what would be considered the essential experience. I feel like I wasted $200 and now I’ll have to pay even more at every site. I’m furious. I’m traveling solo and trying my best to do things frugally, and I this makes me feel like I can’t do anything right.

Great way to see Vienna
A great way to visit a lot of the attractions in Vienna especially if you have limited time. You still need to reserve tickets for a few places (Schönbrunn, Opera tour, Spanish Riding School), but it is so easy to just show the pass and enter everywhere you want. Some places you can skip the lines but not all of them. I probably saw 10 more museums that I was planning to just because I have the pass and it was so easy to get in. So great to skip the line in many places. However the pass does not cover everything or the best options. For example the cruise is only on the Canal and does not get on Danube. Also at Schönbrunn, it covers the State Apartments (smallest tour) , but you can pay the different and get the full tour - which is what you want. I wish I had more time to visit everything.

Absolutely worth it if you are in Vienna for more than a couple of days
Our 6 day pass was absolutely worth it. We saved a huge amount in admission charges. The hop on hop off bus enabled us to get to things that were further away. We visited everything we wanted to see, plus some things that we might not have chosen to have done, had we needed to pay an entrance fee. We were let down by the bus on one occasion, unfortunately. We had boarded the yellow line bus at Lower Belvedere, with the intention of staying on the bus all the way to the Schonbrunn. The bus stopped at the Opera and a lot of people got on. At that point it changed its route from yellow to blue, but no announcement about this was made until the bus was about to depart. Passengers who were already on the bus should have been informed about the change - the driver was apologetic but it was annoying because whilst we were sitting on the bus, another Yellow bus departed, which we missed and then faced a wait of 25 minutes (we got the train instead!).

Convenient with frequent stops
Good service and convenient. My only complaint is the traffic in Vienna which is maddening. The bus could use some charging outlets but it was clean and comfortable.

Pass itself worth the money, busses waste of time
The pass is good value, though you still have to book ahead for some attractions. Busses only run about 6 hours per day, infrequent and don't always turn up. Better value is to buy a tram pass, much more frequent, loads of routes and they travel boths ways.
