    Lovely tour

Annelie was incredibly knowledgeable and we learned a lot. She took us to many places that a first time traveler would not know to go to. Highly recommend. My family truly enjoyed

Fantastic 1st day in Vienna tour!

Great intro to Vienna! This was our 1st full day there and Walter gave us a great overview of the city. He was very knowledgeable and has a great personality. He also gave us some good recommendations for other things to do while in Vienna based on what we like to do. Highly recommend!

Response from the operator: Thank you, Kathy! It is great that our "starter tour" met your expectations. Starting right from your doorstep at the Steigenberger Herrenhof – a perfect choice amidst Vienna’s vibrant culture, lifestyle, and near the government district – made our first steps together convenient. I truly enjoyed walking my city with you, and your lively interest was stimulating. I am glad the suggestions empowered you to explore more of Vienna during your trip. Happy Travels

    Our tour guide, Brigitte...

Our tour guide, Brigitte (sp?), was very nice, had good English communication skills, and took us to all the spots as advertised. Also took lots of photos. Would recommend!

Response from the operator: Hi Ravindra, Thank you for the great review! We are so glad you enjoyed your time with Brigitte and appreciated her pacing and communication. Starting right at the doorstep of the Hotel Imperial gives us the perfect launchpad for this tour. Spending those three full hours with our guests is what allows us to cover all the iconic spots we promise - and maybe even share a few extra local secrets along the way. Warm regards, The Team at SCHINDL Local Services & Day Tours

    Highly Recommend Tour!!!

Walter did an amazing job! He took the time to connect with me prior to our arrival in Vienna to make sure that we met at the same location. His local knowledge of public transportation was very helpful. I was blown away with his knowledge of Vienna's history, dates, names, everything. My friends and I learned so much. I would definitely do this tour again and request Walter as my guide.

Response from the operator: Transit may look like dead time. Long layovers can become a bonus vacation. Thank you so much for this wonderful review, Megan. It was an pleasure hosting you and your friends on your way to summer camp in Romania. Long transatlantic flights take a lot out of anyone, yet you three showed exactly how to turn a long connection into a genuinely memorable travel experience. With our private tours, flexibility is everything. Connecting beforehand ensured we were perfectly aligned the moment you stepped into the Hilton Vienna Park. A 3‑hour “First Glance” walk after a long flight is definitely high‑energy, but it’s also the most effective way to maximize a daytime layover. We wrapped up right in front of St. Stephen’s Cathedral — placing you in the historic center with plenty of independent time to explore, enjoy dinner, and return to the airport without stress. Have a fantastic time in Romania, and we hope to welcome you or your friends back to Vienna for a longer stay next time.

Great way to get your first taste of Vienna

This is a great option to explore Vienna and see the highlights. Walter, our guide, filled us with all the history we could absorb. Although this tour does not include entry, we did not feel like we missed anything.

Response from the operator: Douglas, great to hear that our "First Glance" walk hit the mark and gave you the perfect entry point to Vienna. As a local, sharing the history of my hometown is my passion, so I’m glad you enjoyed absorbing it all. You captured our philosophy perfectly: by skipping the standard indoor ticket lines, we deliberately free up extra time to navigate lesser-traveled routes and show you some of the city's authentic side. For me, a tour should be about flexible pacing and making dense facts engaging within your chosen timeslot, rather than just checking off standard sights. Great that our style matched what you were looking for. Enjoy your memories of Vienna! Best regards, Walter Schindl Local Services & Day Tours

Vienna at First Glance a Private Walking Tour for First Timers: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Vienna.

How much does Vienna at First Glance a Private Walking Tour for First Timers cost?

    +

Prices start at $285 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Vienna usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Vienna at First Glance a Private Walking Tour for First Timers take?

    +

Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Vienna is not rushed.

Is Vienna at First Glance a Private Walking Tour for First Timers worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 75 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 145 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Vienna, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Vienna at First Glance a Private Walking Tour for First Timers?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Vienna at First Glance a Private Walking Tour for First Timers suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Vienna at First Glance a Private Walking Tour for First Timers?

    +

Around 51 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Vienna can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Vienna and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Vienna at First Glance a Private Walking Tour for First Timers start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Vienna within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Vienna?

    +

On Outty we rank every Vienna experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Authentic Vienna Food Tour inc. lunch, street food, 3 drinks, Vienna Food Tour: Coffeehouses, Markets, Lunch & Street Food, Budapest Small-Group Day Trip from Vienna. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Vienna?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Vienna?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
