Tour cancelled - but more than adequate compensation.
We had 4 people booked for a sunset tour in late August. We arrived on time, but then no-one showed up. We contacted ORS the next day, and they were very apologetic. Our fee had been refunded immediately, and they offered us a an additional gift card for our next visit, as we were unable to reschedule the tour during our Victoria visit. So , ultimately, we were not able to take the tour, but we will use our gift card to take it next time we're in Victoria. I count this as a positive response from ORS; at bare minimum, they could've just given our money back, but took the extra step in giving us a credit for next time. Problems happen with tours - it's how the operator responds that is a measure of their worth.
Response from the operator: Hi Simon, Thank you for sharing your experience here. We do pride ourselves on great experiences on the water, but what frequently stands out to our guests is our dedication to customer service. We are sorry for this unfortunate circumstance and take full responsibility for this mishap. We are glad that you will be able to come join us on the water another time in the future. Thank you again for being kind and patient as we made this as right as we could. All the best , Ocean River Management

We took the Sunset tour...
We took the Sunset tour with Stu and two others. Stu made sure we were geared up appropriately and asked about our knowledge of kayaking (we have kayaked several times before.) so that we we felt comfortably safe. We saw seals, sea planes, and learned about the importance of kelp. Stu allowed us to take pictures as we wished. We circled the harbor at a comfortable pace and enjoyed being up close with the bridges and the tourists. It was just enough paddling where we caught the sunset and returned home.

Great way to spend a night in Victoria
An amazing tour. The weather was nice, we got to see some fauna and learn about the Inner Harbour. Our guide AJ was great, a neverending source of interesting stuff about the Harbour and its surroundings.
Response from the operator: Thank you for the kind words! We're so glad you had a lovely evening in the harbour. We are grateful for our great guides like AJ.

Why this scores 71
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Victoria Harbour Sunset Kayak Tour: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Vancouver Island.
How much does Victoria Harbour Sunset Kayak Tour cost?
+
Prices start at $72 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Vancouver Island usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Victoria Harbour Sunset Kayak Tour take?
+
Plan for about 2.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Vancouver Island is not rushed.
Is Victoria Harbour Sunset Kayak Tour worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 71 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 41 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Vancouver Island, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Victoria Harbour Sunset Kayak Tour?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Victoria Harbour Sunset Kayak Tour suitable for kids and families?
+
The operator sets a minimum age of 5. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 2.5-hour running time when deciding.
How far in advance should I book Victoria Harbour Sunset Kayak Tour?
+
Around 14 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Vancouver Island can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Vancouver Island and add a light layer if any part of the 2.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Victoria Harbour Sunset Kayak Tour start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Vancouver Island within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Vancouver Island?
+
On Outty we rank every Vancouver Island experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Victoria Guided Food and History Tour, Victoria Whale and Wildlife Cruise, Victoria Half-Day Whale Watching Adventure with Free Photos. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Vancouver Island?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Vancouver Island?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
