A cheerful community nestled in a beautiful natural setting

I had a wonderful time at “Mpala Guest House Farm” in the Chisuma community near Victoria Falls. Svikani picked me up at Victoria Falls Airport and took me to the guest house, where I received a very warm welcome. I was immediately introduced to the members of the community: Melody, Michelle, Alisha, Kingsley, Diana, Donovan, Gayden, Alice, Charles, Japhet, Svikani, Marble, and Davison. They gave me a wonderful welcome. They live in a guest house a 15-minute walk from the Zambezi River, which separates Zimbabwe from Zambia. They live in a community with about ten bungalows that they rent to international visitors, offering them food from their vegetable garden, which allows them to live almost entirely off their own produce. Melody and Michelle are excellent cooks and will introduce you to local dishes. They will also take you on a 30-minute walk through breathtaking landscapes where you’ll pass through herds of goats and encounter baboons, eventually reaching a cliff overlooking the Zambezi River from which you can see Zambia on the other side of the river. In the evening, we all eat together in a communal outdoor dining area at a large table under a thatched roof. I particularly appreciated the kindness of everyone, who is always available to ensure you have an unforgettable time. The famous Victoria Falls and the boat trips on the Zambezi River are spectacular. I also really enjoyed going rafting with Japhet, who lives in the community and offers excellent advice while sharing his passion for rafting and the beauty of the gorges. I was deeply moved that day by their songs, their zest for life, their kindness, and their singing. They sing all the time, and I was able to attend their ceremony to honor their departed loved ones, which they commemorate through song, walking around the graves to clean them after offering a prayer led by a priest. I highly recommend this very unique place, because you can feel a true sense of spirituality there, all while being in a place with charming and kind people. For me, it was a truly authentic experience, cut off from everything, living self-sufficiently, where the songs, the meals, the kindness of my hosts, the barbecues, nature, and the animals made for an unforgettable time. I couldn’t bring myself to leave this magical place where the sunsets are mesmerizing, so in the end I stayed for two weeks. It was an extremely enriching experience. I really hope to return one day. Thank you to everyone, to the community.

Awesome fun on the river for kids and adults

Great day on the river with the team from Try Rafting (Liberty, Cobra and Jar). The only operator we found that would take kids under 15. Our 7,9,11 yo had an awesome time. My 11 yo was worried it would be too tame but was exciting enough and 7 yo enjoyed as well. Starting at rapid 11 still have us grade 3 & 4 rapids. Helps if your kids are good swimmers and you need to be happy to hike into and out of the gorge. Everything in Vic Falls is pricey, but we thought this was good value.

Response from the operator: Thank you for spending the day with us! awesome family awesome trip come see us again soon!

Victoria Falls Family Friendly Rafting on the Zambezi River: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Victoria Falls.

How much does Victoria Falls Family Friendly Rafting on the Zambezi River cost?

+

Prices start at $170 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Victoria Falls usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Victoria Falls Family Friendly Rafting on the Zambezi River take?

+

Plan for about 6 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Victoria Falls is not rushed.

Is Victoria Falls Family Friendly Rafting on the Zambezi River worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 57 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 3 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Victoria Falls, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Victoria Falls Family Friendly Rafting on the Zambezi River?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Victoria Falls Family Friendly Rafting on the Zambezi River suitable for kids and families?

+

The operator sets a minimum age of 7. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 6-hour running time when deciding.

How far in advance should I book Victoria Falls Family Friendly Rafting on the Zambezi River?

+

Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Victoria Falls can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Victoria Falls and add a light layer if any part of the 6-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Victoria Falls Family Friendly Rafting on the Zambezi River start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Victoria Falls within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Victoria Falls?

+

On Outty we rank every Victoria Falls experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Victoria Falls Dinner Cruise on the Zambezi River, Victoria Falls Theatre Featuring Simunye: The Spirit of Africa, Zambezi River Class IV-V White-Water Rafting from Victoria Falls. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Victoria Falls?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Victoria Falls?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
