The hike up to the crater...

The hike up to the crater was great. The weather was very hot and humid but worth it. I was very disappointed in the wine tasting. We learned nothing about the grapes and the wine process for each varietal. Instead they just poured wine with a large meal. The bus ride was long and the air conditioning only cooled those near the front.

Could have been better organised at the pick up

Climbing Vesuvius before a long lunch.

Coach pick up in Sorrento was on time and well organised. The trip to Vesuvius was pleasant, you are dropped off right outside the final walk to the summit…a good 30 min walk up quite the incline. Wear sensible footwear, the effort is worth it as the views are spectacular. The journey to the vineyard is a further 45 min drive, but again well worth it. The hosts are attentive the food is plentiful and the wine servings are generous. Met some lovely people over a very nice long lunch. Nice that the drop off was via each groups hotel. All in all, good value for the two great experiences

Good Tour if You Don’t Mind Large Groups

I joined a tour that included a climb up Mount Vesuvius and a visit to a winery with wine tasting. Personally, I usually prefer smaller, more intimate groups because I enjoy connecting with people. When I realized it was a full bus, I was a bit disappointed — I only really had the chance to meet a few people during lunch. The guide was very kind and gave nice insights about the places we passed, sharing a bit of local history and culture, which I appreciated. The hike up Vesuvius I did on my own and truly enjoyed the time at the top. As for the wine tasting, I had high expectations but felt it was rather vague. For someone with some knowledge of wine, I would have appreciated more detailed explanations. The visit to the estate was also quite short and didn’t allow much time to enjoy the space. Overall, if you don’t mind large groups and are simply looking for a straightforward excursion, this can be a good option. But if you’re seeking a more personal experience and meaningful connection, it might not be the best choice.

Too Hot - Too Long for July

Luciana was a very nice and professional guide, Fillipo was an excellent driver, but the tour was simply too long and too hot in July. It was advertised as a 6 hour excursion, but it was actually very close to 8 hours? The food and wine lunch was fantastic. I’m sure this tour would be much better in cooler months.
