About this experience

Discover the countryside of Lucca riding a Vespa 125 Primavera. The iconic scooter, in its most modern version, offers the perfect means to explore the natural surroundings of the city. We offer two different itineraries, one heading north towards Montecarlo, and one heading south towards the Lake of Massaciuccoli. After a little briefing, we'll provide an itinerary to follow on Google Maps and offer some suggestions of spots where to stop for lunch and things to see along the way. You can also choose to stop for a picnic at our partner winery or have an olive oil tasting in a local mill. In this self-tour type of experience, we encourage the visitors to take their time, enjoying this beautiful region at their own pace. On a Vespa, the trip is just as important as the destination. Please note that experience in driving scooters/motorcycles is mandatory. If the customer shouldn't have this, we reserve the right to deny rental for safety reasons, and there won't be a refund.

  3. Our personal favorite ice cream parlor in town. Ingredients are carefully selected (keeping in mind seasonality), and all products are made with the highest attention to detail. It's an optional stop, but one we highly recommend. (Opening Hours: 11:30 AM - 08:30 PM, closed on Monday)

  4. Chiesa di Sant'Andrea Apostolo di Gattaiola

Using the church as point of reference, we'll be visiting the settlements of Gattaiola and Meati. Their narrow roads and lush vegetation make this part of town an amazing and characteristic area to drive through.

  5. Oasi Massaciuccoli

The Oasi LIPU is a protected sanctuary for many species of birds and animals, open to the public for free (you can leave an offer to help sustain their work). The sanctuary can visited on foot walking on wooden stilts that extend over the lake, zigzagging between the flora of the lake.

  6. Lake Massaciuccoli

The lake of Massaciuccoli is home to a variety of wildlife, including a number of migrative birds. The composer Giacomo Puccini used to wander around it, searching for inspiration, so much so that one of the towns on the lake was named after him.

Vespa Self Guided Tour Around Luccas Countryside: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Lucca.

How much does Vespa Self Guided Tour Around Luccas Countryside cost?

+

Prices start at $90 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Lucca usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Vespa Self Guided Tour Around Luccas Countryside take?

+

Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Lucca is not rushed.

Is Vespa Self Guided Tour Around Luccas Countryside worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 67 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 8 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Lucca, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Vespa Self Guided Tour Around Luccas Countryside?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Vespa Self Guided Tour Around Luccas Countryside suitable for kids and families?

+

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Vespa Self Guided Tour Around Luccas Countryside?

+

Around 3 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Lucca can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Lucca and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Vespa Self Guided Tour Around Luccas Countryside start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Lucca within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Lucca?

+

On Outty we rank every Lucca experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Lucca: Wine Tasting Experience - Tenuta Adamo Winery, Lucca’s Ultimate Food Tour: Full Tuscan Meal by Do Eat Better, Tuscan Wine Tour in Lucca by van. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Lucca?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Lucca?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
