    Verde Canyon Rail Day Adventure

Definitely a great trip. Cody, the owner of Wandering Heart Adventures, the actual tour trip company that Viator set us up with, was the best! So knowledgeable and friendly. I will definitely book with Wandering Heart Adventures when I get back to Arizona again!

    Very enjoyable

Four couples in our group and everyone was delighted with the trip. This is not some high speed thrill ride, this is a slow ride through some very difficult but beautiful country. There is narration throughout the trip plus the car attendant added other tidbits and pointed out specific sites. We elected to upgrade to a first class car which offered nicer seating and are happy we did. We each got a bottle of water and a snack box with good cheese, fruit and a brownie. There was a bar with a very nice selection of margaritas, wine and beer. The margaritas were great. We saw deer, coyote and water fowl. The train cars are completely refurbished and open viewing cars are provided.

Best choice for touring from the Scottsdale Phoenix area!!!!!

Not enough good words to describe Cody Newport from Wandering Hearts Adventures!!!! A native of the area with a lot of experience in hospitality and touring. My husband and I hadn't been in this area for 25 plus years and wanted to revisit Sedona and surroundings area and check off a bucket list rail tour while I was there for a conference. We chose the Verde Canyon Rail tour one day tour which Cody pointed out much more scenic then the Grand Canyon Railroad. Tour was amazing. Brought us to 2 National Park/Native American sites ( Montezumas castle and Tuzigoot), both spectacular. Then to the old copper mining town of Jerome which I could honestly have spent the whole day at! Such a cool vibe. Then to Clarksdale to board the beautiful Verde Valley Rail. First class car. Lovely. Great staff.Bar services. A little buffet lunch. Cody very knowledgeable. I was lucky enough to find him prior to trip, was able to converse directly with him about options, very attentive and took time planning with you! His van brand new, clean, comfortable. He will book minimum 2 people. Won't cancel last minute because he didn't fill the bus like other companies! Very affordable for the personal service. Punctual. Picked us up in Phoenix and no problem dropping us end of day in Scottsdale as we were changing hotels for end of week. Start to finish a fantastic day. We felt so comfortable with him. My husband has some mobility issues. He went out of way to make the tour enjoyable for him! Very kind and conscientious. My colleague also in area wanted to spend some real time in the Sedona area viewing the red rocks and the town. He created a personal tour for 4 of us another day- affordable, included lunch. Definitely saw some things others wouldn't have because of his personal service. Took us to every viewing area, Chapel of Holy Cross, Buddhist prayer temple, and the town of Sedona for lunch and shopping. This is the type of small business owner you want to see succeed! Contact him before you book with others. Cody, thank you for making our opportunity to re visit this area a very special experience! Would tell anyone visiting this area to contact you!

Verde Canyon Rail Day Adventure from Scottsdale or Phoenix: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Scottsdale.

How much does Verde Canyon Rail Day Adventure from Scottsdale or Phoenix cost?

    +

Prices start at $350 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Scottsdale usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Verde Canyon Rail Day Adventure from Scottsdale or Phoenix take?

    +

Plan for about 12 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Scottsdale is not rushed.

Is Verde Canyon Rail Day Adventure from Scottsdale or Phoenix worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 65 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 4 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Scottsdale, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Verde Canyon Rail Day Adventure from Scottsdale or Phoenix?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Verde Canyon Rail Day Adventure from Scottsdale or Phoenix suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 12-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Verde Canyon Rail Day Adventure from Scottsdale or Phoenix?

    +

Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Scottsdale can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Scottsdale and add a light layer if any part of the 12-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Verde Canyon Rail Day Adventure from Scottsdale or Phoenix start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Scottsdale within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Scottsdale?

    +

Scottsdale pairs polished Old Town food, art and nightlife tours with hard desert adventure: Jeep runs through the Tonto, hot air balloons at dawn, horseback rides and e-bike routes along the greenbelt. Operator permits decide which trails a tour can actually reach, so we look closely at route detail. On Outty we rank every Scottsdale experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Pedal Bar Crawl of Old Town Scottsdale, Sonoran Desert Jeep Tour at Sunset, Small-Group or Private Grand Canyon with Sedona Tour from Phoenix. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Scottsdale?

    +

November to April, with dawn departures through the summer. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Scottsdale?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
