    5. Teatro La Fenice

In the latter part of the 18th century, Venice boasted a remarkable array of seven venerable theaters, two dedicated to dramatic arts and the remaining five celebrating the world of music. Among this prestigious lineup, none outshone the Teatro San Benedetto, nestled in the vicinity of Campo San Luca. Its origins can be traced back to its founding by the illustrious Grimani family in 1755, but later, the reins of control passed into the hands of the Noble Society of boxholders. However, a pivotal moment unfolded in 1787 when a legal agreement led to the society's eviction from their beloved theater. They were compelled to relinquish this hallowed stage to the Venier nobility, who held ownership of the land beneath it. In response, the society embarked on a grand endeavor to erect a new, more magnificent theater, aptly named the Gran Teatro La Fenice.

    6. Ponte de le Ostreghe

Venice abounds with place names that echo its deep-rooted connections to horticulture and lush, green spaces. From the campi (fields) and campazzi (grassy squares) to the calluses where fig trees thrived, the city's nomenclature is a testament to its organic heritage. The earliest documented mention of Rio dell'Alboro dates back to 1696, while Rio de le Ostreghe graced records in the following century. It's highly probable that these waterways once hosted vendors of succulent seafood, who plied their trade in the vicinity. The cultivation of such seafood, particularly within the lagoon, enjoyed substantial growth, especially in the first half of the 19th century. This influential period left an enduring mark, most notably in the transformation of Ostregheri Canal into the Canale dei Lavraneri, found in the captivating region of Sacca Fisola

    Not worth the $$

The tour guide was wonderful & informative. The Gondala ride was horrible. He was bossy, corrected me when I attempted to take photo with my husband. Talked to gondalier in front of us. Loudly. So we just sat there & didn't move.BAD EXPERIENCE

Response from the operator: Hello, Thank you for your feedback. Our goal is always to deliver the best possible experience, and we are constantly working to maintain our services at a high standard

    Falsely Advertised

WAIT! Before you book, read this review as the other reviews here were not accurate. The size of the group tour is falsely advertised as 5 people, hidden in the details it’s 15 and when we showed up it we had 25 people on the tour. I explicitly booked a small group tour because my wife and I are traveling with an infant. Trying to keep up with a large group in crowded streets with an infant was the poor experience we wished to avoid as we frequently found ourselves separated and out of radio range of the guide missing her descriptions. Even if you are not traveling with an infant I do not recommend this tour for anyone.

Nice inside tour of what Venice is to Ventians

This was a very nice introduction to Venice and the guide was wonderful. My only regret was that he did not take us into St Marks Square. He did however show us how to get there on our own.

Response from the operator: Thanks for your feedback! You are very important to us! We always choose the best guides, to provide an excellent service! Thank you, we are waiting for you and we thank you!

    Nice Gondola Ride!

I didn’t make the walking tour portion (due to my own time mismanagement) but they were flexible and helped accommodate me so I could still do the gondola ride which was very nice!

Venice: Enchanting City Walk & Majestic Gondola Glide + Ebook: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Venice.

How much does Venice: Enchanting City Walk & Majestic Gondola Glide + Ebook cost?

    +

Prices start at $120 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Venice usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Venice: Enchanting City Walk & Majestic Gondola Glide + Ebook take?

    +

Plan for about 2 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Venice is not rushed.

Is Venice: Enchanting City Walk & Majestic Gondola Glide + Ebook worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 48 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (3.9/5 across 9 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most popular in Venice, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Venice: Enchanting City Walk & Majestic Gondola Glide + Ebook?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Venice: Enchanting City Walk & Majestic Gondola Glide + Ebook suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Venice: Enchanting City Walk & Majestic Gondola Glide + Ebook?

    +

Around 3 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Venice can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Venice and add a light layer if any part of the 2-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Venice: Enchanting City Walk & Majestic Gondola Glide + Ebook start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Venice within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Venice?

    +

On Outty we rank every Venice experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Pasta and Tiramisu Cooking Class with Wine in Venice, Eating Venice Small Group Food & Drinks Tour, Venice Bacaro Food Tour: Eat and Drink like a Venetian. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Venice?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Venice?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
