Poor Tour guide and VIP experience
Felt as if we were conned on this. We first booked the tour for Friday 15th at 5.30pm only to be told that we couldn't go as the museum was closed, why let us book? Then the tour guide said, get a refund or rebook at a cost of additional 35 euros per person!! We didn't have much choice as we were due to leave Monday 18th which was the only time we could get, however the whole tour was pointless, it was extremely crammed, considering this should have been VIP, felt more like a cattle market, the tour guide had broken English and spoke far too quickly and almost ran through the entire tour, which by the way is absolutely not cold friendly at all if you have a pram, be prepared to carry up an abundance amount of stairs. The only perk.....briefly seeing the sistine chapel. Stay away from tours like this and do your research before being ripped off.

Extremely Poor - don’t book it!
The guide was very knowledgeable. However, the tour lasted 1 hour and 10 minutes. St Peter’s square and St Peter’s Bassillica were closed - extremely expensive not worth 10% of what I paid, complete rip off.
Rude and disorganized
I booked this as a gift for my grandmother on her 80th birthday trip. When we arrived at the location specified I asked someone out front if this was correct and showed them the confirmation and address below. They pointed me around the corner to another destination and so I led her that direction. We ended up walking for blocks near the Vatican entrance and asking multiple people about this as well as calling the number provided. The number did not answer and eventually I ended back at the original address where one of the guides was and let me know it was too late for me to join the group. She was also very rude to my grandmother (who again is 80 years old) and I when I explained what happened, I was extremely disappointed. There are plenty of booking options available, choose any other company but this one.
Response from the operator: I don't understand what your intention is to make such an unpleasant comment, the people who book with us arrive directly at the meeting point without problems, and it is also right next to the entrance to the museums. We do not know of a delay, not even a cancellation, our staff is made up of friendly and professional people, you have surely confused the company.

Bad experience, a lot of money
On the website it was not clear that 17 euros is only a part of the price. After we paid, we received a ticked and on it it was written that we need to pay 27 more euros per adult and 18 euros per child. The guide told us that it's more convenient to go and buy tickets from the Vatican museum directly, 8 euros per child and 17 euros per adult. So we lost all the money that we initially paid, because viator didn't want to refund us.
Gracias Maria Vaticantourist

Absolute Joke *Avoid*
AVOID THE SCAM. I knew the tickets were around €17 euro. Saw the Viator ad, checked availability, booked, got the email with the Pdf download saying it wasn't the ticket and wasn't refundable. You still had to pay for the ticket to get in. Cut my losses and found the official page for the Vatican museum and spent €22 each with no ques, straight in. WILL TAKE THIS UP WITH TRADING STANDARDS WITH THEIR UK OFFICE FOR MISSELLING.

Why this scores 29
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Vatican VIP Experience: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Rome.
How much does Vatican VIP Experience cost?
+
Prices start at $129 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Rome usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Vatican VIP Experience take?
+
Plan for about 1 hour from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Rome is not rushed.
Is Vatican VIP Experience worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 29 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (3.5/5 across 38 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable culture & history in Rome, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Vatican VIP Experience?
+
No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.
Is Vatican VIP Experience suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 1-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Vatican VIP Experience?
+
Around 13 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Rome can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Rome and add a light layer if any part of the 1-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Vatican VIP Experience start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Rome within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Rome?
+
Rome runs on skip-the-line access. The Colosseum underground, the Vatican before opening, and the catacombs south of the walls all require a licensed operator, and the price gap between the good ones and the rest is smaller than you would expect. We rank by guide credentials, group size and how reliably the promised access actually materialises. On Outty we rank every Rome experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Rome Pasta and Tiramisu Class: Ravioli, Fettuccine & Fine Wine 5*, Pasta Making & Wine Tasting with Dinner in Frascati from Rome, Rome: Pizza & Tiramisu or Gelato Class with Flowing Fine Wine 5*. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Rome?
+
April, May, September and October. August is hot and half the city is shut. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Rome?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
