An Exquisite Gem
This is an exquisite, small museum. I took the Big Red Hop On/Hop Off bus and walked a few blocks from Stop #8. I viewed some contemporary, changing exhibitions, as well as the permanent collection. I had brunch in the cafe and shopped in the beautiful store. If you love art and want to learn about key artists, craftspeople, and designers of British Columbia, don’t miss this gallery. The landscape paintings alone are worth a visit.

Emily Carr
With Our Visit to Vancouver Gallery we viewed the numerous works of E Carr with detailed informative background per grouping which helps in understanding and appreciating her work. We also saw thought provoking installations on our environment and man’s impact on it.

Imaginative
I’m not into “modern art” per se, but I am into expanding my mind and imagination. I felt pushed in a good way to see things differently. If I weren’t so tired, I would have spent more time at this beautiful museum - in particular the 3 screen film. The staff were extremely friendly and polite. Wonderful experience

Very steep admission price, not worth the money
I wish I'd read the other reviews before going here but I just assumed that an art gallery in a major city like Vancouver would be great. I was very wrong. Let's start off with the admission price of $35 Canadian with no concession for seniors. Compare that to the National Gallery of Canada in Ottawa which is loaded with old masters, famous contemporary artists, controversial pieces like Voice of Fire, and which charges only $20 for seniors. When I went to the Vancouver Art Gallery, a huge banner hung outside advertising a certain exhibition, which I was very keen to see. AFTER paying my $35 to get in, I found out that exhibit did not open until the next day. So I spent $35 to see a bunch of Emily Carr paintings [I'm not a fan] and a few other things which were just OK. The best part of this gallery is the restaurant, where we had a lovely lunch. I asked for a refund of my admission because the exhibit I wanted to see- and which had been advertised- was not open. They refused, saying that all tickets are final sale but rest assured, they would send my comments to management. That's not good enough. Vancouver, you deserve a much better art gallery!

Why this scores 46
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Vancouver Art Gallery - General Admission: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Vancouver.
How much does Vancouver Art Gallery - General Admission cost?
+
Prices start at $26 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Vancouver usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Vancouver Art Gallery - General Admission take?
+
Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Vancouver is not rushed.
Is Vancouver Art Gallery - General Admission worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 46 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (2.6/5 across 82 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Vancouver, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Vancouver Art Gallery - General Admission?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Vancouver Art Gallery - General Admission suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Vancouver Art Gallery - General Admission?
+
Around 29 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Vancouver can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Vancouver and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Vancouver Art Gallery - General Admission start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Vancouver within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Vancouver?
+
On Outty we rank every Vancouver experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include The Grand Bicycle Tour of Vancouver, The Stanley Park Bicycle Tour, Vancouver City Sightseeing Tour: Capilano Suspension Bridge & Vancouver Lookout. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Vancouver?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Vancouver?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
