These mountains of garbage are the result of the Cairo Metropolitan Area having never established an efficient garbage collecting system.

We took a tour to Saint Simone monastery, city of the dead and garbage city and everything was very good. Good organization and attention throughout. The guide, Abduo abdelaziz explains the history of Egypt very well, in addition to being a very attentive and competent person. Recommended experience!

Just 2 hours tour
The tour guide explained the tour was just 2 hours because of the light traffic on Friday morning. Still driver and guide were half an hour late for the pick up. I thought it was an accident but having another tour (again Friday morning), again half an hour delayed pick up, it looks more like a habit. The tour was interesting but we stayed very little in the City of the Dead and I didn't get to see any of the special buildings, even if I asked for it and insisted. We did enter one of the usual buildings.

They do it on Friday so it’s out of our hand to stuck on the traffic lights for more than one hour because of a minister or something like that is passing the road so we are so sorry that happened but it’s not our mistake and concerning that we have another Tour before your tour it’s not correct because you can check the opening time of the monastery and sightseeing all over Egypt. It start from 8 o’clock in the morning and your tour was at 9:00 AM in the morning, so how come and also concerning the city of the dead you saw already that’s the area it’s under renovation and construction and already we made you see all what is possible there so we did our best to let you enjoy again thank you so much

A Standout Day!
Abdul was an absolute standout—deeply knowledgeable, genuinely passionate, and incredibly accommodating from start to finish. When friends urged us not to miss the Civilization Museum, we asked if he’d be willing to adjust our plan, even though it wasn’t part of the original itinerary. Without hesitation, he made it happen. Inside the museum, he brought history vividly to life with infectious enthusiasm. And just when we thought he’d already gone above and beyond, he insisted on still taking us to the City of the Dead because he didn’t want us to miss a single highlight. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience.

Less seen side of Cairo
Excellent tour, very interesting parts if Cairo not seen by many tourists. Wish our guide wanted to spend more time at the City of the Dead, but he seemed a little nervous about it. He was a very nice guy otherwise.
