A Perfect Family Adventure with the Ideal Guide

The Coba, Monkey Reserve and Cenote was easily the highlight of our family's recent trip to Cancun. In one day, we climbed a temple, did a bike tour, ate an amazing authentic Mayan influenced meal, saw monkeys, ziplined across a canyon, and swam in a Cenote. The best part of the experience was our guide, Axel, who is passionate about Mayan archeology and civilization. He was able to answer all of our questions about the various sites as well as Mexican culture, in general. We have been on several great, private tours in Mexico and Europe and this was by far the best. Given the number of things that we were able to accomplish, I felt that this was a very good value. We hope to do future excursions with Jaguar and Axel.

Response from the operator: Reading your words truly moves us. Knowing that day in Cobá, the jungle, the monkeys, and the cenote became such a special memory for your family is exactly the reason Jaguar Journey exists. That is why all of our experiences are private, never in groups—so you can move at the rhythm of your own time and space, allowing you to connect more deeply with ancient civilizations and with our ancestors. Every experience we create seeks something beyond simply visiting places. We want each person who walks with us to feel the jungle, hear the ancient stories hidden in the stones, taste the flavors born from the Mayan land, and discover that this territory holds a very special energy. We are very happy to know that Axel was able to accompany you on that path. For us, he is not just a guide; he is a guardian of stories—someone who feels a deep connection with the Mayan civilization and shares that knowledge with respect, passion, and heart. What we lived together that day reflects exactly why our experiences are different in Quintana Roo and throughout Mexico. It is not just about seeing many places, but about living them without rush, far from the crowds, connecting with nature, with culture, and with the people who make this place truly unique. Many explorers and travelers who have visited hundreds of places around the world have shared something that deeply touches us: despite all the incredible destinations they have experienced, they say they have never found anything quite like what they lived with us. Not only because of the service or the places we visit, but because of the essence behind every experience—the way everything unfolds naturally, with respect for nature, for the Mayan civilization, and for the spirit of this land. Our greatest wish is that when someone travels with us, they do not return home only with photographs, but with something deeper… an emotion, a memory that stays in the heart. Because in every experience we share, we also leave a small piece of ourselves. And we hope that you also took with you a little piece of this land, its energy, and our family. The doors of this path will always remain open for you.

Excursion Coba and Monkey reserve with cenote

Fantastic excursion. Very good guide and driver. Coba was fantastic and also the dinner at a Mayan family was delicious and the monkey reserve was very interesting many apples seen. Definitely recommended

Response from the operator: Thank you for walking with us between history and jungle, for opening your senses in Cobá, where the stones still whisper the voices of the ancestors. Sharing the table with a Maya family, savoring a cuisine made with time, fire, and heart, is an encounter that lingers, and it deeply honors us to know you experienced it that way. In the monkey reserve, the jungle spoke in its own language, through curious glances and free movement, reminding us that nature is always watching and teaching. Thank you for trusting, for feeling, and for recommending us. From this moment on, your path is also part of Jaguar Journey, a journey that continues long after the return. With gratitude, Jaguar Journey

COBA and Monkey reserve and Mayan dinner

Beautiful excursion and cool guide and driver. Had a private tour since 8k was alone with no other tourists and it was magical. Very happy and definitely recommended

Response from the operator: Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your words and for allowing us to accompany you on such a special, magical, and mystical experience. It fills us with joy to know that you were able to enjoy the excursion privately, without crowds, and with the calm needed to truly feel the magic of the place. For us, creating different journeys—more human, conscious, and authentic—is an essential part of our path. Thank you for your trust and for recommending this experience. From this moment on, you are part of the Jaguar Journey family. May what you experienced continue to resonate within you long after the journey. With gratitude, Jaguar Journey

    Incredible Experience: History, Food, Fun

We cannot recommend Jaguar Journey highly enough. Axel and Marvis picked up our family of 5 (kids ages 14, 12, & 6) from our resort and treated us with the warmest hospitality throughout the day. We started with a visit to Coba, where Axel brought history to life with his engaging way of explaining the structures. We rented bikes and rode through the expansive area to see multiple sites. We loved biking through the jungle as we explored the ancient city. Afterwards, we were served lunch by a Mayan family, which was probably our favorite meal of our entire vacation. We made tortillas by hand and enjoyed the most authentic food that was made specifically for our family. Finally, we explored a monkey sanctuary and saw spider monkeys in the wild, ziplined through the jungle, and explored a cenote. Axel was a fantastic guide, who not only is incredibly knowledgeable about Mayan and Mexican history, but is also very personable and kept our kids engaged the entire day. After our awesome experience with Axel, we ultimately booked 2 more excursions with him during our time there (posted in separate reviews). All 3 days were the highlights of our trip!

Response from the operator: Hello! Axel and Marvis dedicate their soul to every detail, and reading that their passion, warmth, and knowledge made each moment special for you fills us with gratitude and joy. Thank you, from the deepest part of our being, for taking the time to share your experience with such care. Your words are priceless treasures, as they remind us that what we do is not just a tour: it is weaving memories, awakening emotions, planting smiles, and leaving imprints on the soul of those who join us. In the jungle, amid the whisper of the trees and the murmur of the cenotes, each moment transforms into a poem of life, where history, nature, and heart intertwine to create eternal memories. Thank you for allowing us to be part of that living poetry. Muchas gracias!

Relax and enjoy a locals-only experience with Jaguar Journeys!

Simply cannot say enough positive things about Jaguar Journeys! When we came to Cancun, we were looking for a personalised tour experience that would take us down the beaten path and give us a locals-like perspective of Cancun. We were recommended Jaguar Journeys through an online travel friend and so glad we chose them. Axel met us at the hotel with private transportation and plenty of snacks and drinks. At our tour spots, Axel smoothly took care of all of the details such as park permits and bike rentals and made it super easy for us to sit back and enjoy the beauty around us. Our favorite parts of the tour were the lunch with a local Mayan family and our tour of the Laguna monkey reserve where we also got to repel down into a beautiful cenote. Reflecting on the tour a few months later, we still cherish these experiences and look on them fondly. Take this as your sign to book that tour; you will not regret it! The next time we are in Cancun, we will be sure to join Vanessa and Axel on a tour again!

Unforgettable Journey: Coba, Monkey Reserve, and Mayan Cenote: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Cancun.

How much does Unforgettable Journey: Coba, Monkey Reserve, and Mayan Cenote cost?

    +

Prices start at $511 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Cancun usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Unforgettable Journey: Coba, Monkey Reserve, and Mayan Cenote take?

    +

Plan for about 8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Cancun is not rushed.

Is Unforgettable Journey: Coba, Monkey Reserve, and Mayan Cenote worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 55 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 11 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Cancun, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Unforgettable Journey: Coba, Monkey Reserve, and Mayan Cenote?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Unforgettable Journey: Coba, Monkey Reserve, and Mayan Cenote suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 8-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Unforgettable Journey: Coba, Monkey Reserve, and Mayan Cenote?

    +

Around 4 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Cancun can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Cancun and add a light layer if any part of the 8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Unforgettable Journey: Coba, Monkey Reserve, and Mayan Cenote start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Cancun within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Cancun?

    +

On Outty we rank every Cancun experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Early Access to Chichen Itza All Inclusive with Valladolid and Cenote Swim, Whale Shark Tour from Cancun, Playa del Carmen, Tulum and Riviera Maya, Small-Group 3 Hidden Cenotes Adventure with Tequila Tasting. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Cancun?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Cancun?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
