Uluwatu Temple, or Pura Luhur Uluwatu, one of six key temples believed to be Bali's spiritual pillars, is renowned for its magnificent location, perched on top of a steep cliff approximately 70 meters above sea level. This temple also shares the splendid sunset backdrops as that of Tanah Lot Temple, another important sea temple located in the island's western shores. Pura Luhur Uluwatu is definitely one of the top places on the island to go to for sunset delights, with direct views overlooking the beautiful Indian Ocean and daily Kecak dance performances. Balinese architecture, traditionally-designed gateways, and ancient sculptures add to Uluwatu Temple's appeal.

Kecak and Fire Dance
The Kecak dance, or 'Tari Kecak', is a captivating traditional Balinese art performance, which also goes by, ‘the monkey chant dance’, and loosely 'fire dance', for its occasional use of fire as a centerpiece prop. The Kecak was created around 1930 and is now internationally recognized as one of Bali’s top-three signature dances (alongside the Barong and Legong). The Kecak dance is unique in that it has no other musical background or accompaniment besides the chanting of male dancers, intoning a “keh-chack” polyrhythmic choir during most of the performance. Kecak’s storyline is taken from the Ramayana Hindu epic and it’s often on the entertainment schedule of almost every Balinese arts and culture venue.

beautiful temple and great fire dance - thanks Turah and FV!
Worth it…especially to see the Uluwatu temple at sunset and the experience and story telling of the Kacak Fire Dance. Try to sit up top. Get there early to see the temple and then either aim to sit first to choose your seat or sit late so you can get a high up side stair seat or floor seat if you desire. Use forevervacation.com and Request Turah Rai to be your guide, you won’t be sorry. He was an expert navigator. Found a short cut to minimize traffic as we were running late (my family wanted extra time at the prior location). He got us past the line like a pro (two sets of lines / tickets, so much easier to have him vs doing it yourself).

Uluwatu & Kecak Dance Tour
We had an amazing afternoon with Buddy from ForeverVacation on the Uluwatu & Kecak Dance Tour. Buddy was knowledgeable, welcoming, and made the drive enjoyable by sharing stories about Bali and its traditions. Uluwatu Temple was breathtaking, especially with the stunning ocean views at sunset. The Kecak Dance was unlike anything we’ve ever seen and was the perfect way to end the evening. Buddy made sure we had the best spots for photos and looked after us every step of the way. Wonderful trip to Uluwatu temple and Kecak dance performance!
Dharma picked us up at our hotel and drove us to Uluwatu temple where he gave us a tour and educated us about the religious traditions and culture of the Balinese people. He helped us manage the mischievous monkeys who will quickly grab your glasses or cell phone. He gave us water and escorted us to the arena for a wonderful Kecak dance performance based on the Ramayana epic at the heart of the Hindu religion. It was great fun and a wonderful experience!

Highly Recommend!
This tour was the perfect opportunity to experience the local culture, food, and beach! Aprio was our guide for the day and he even took us to some local shops to get small things and wine. The price was perfect to cover all of our expenses for the places we visited. We even had the best spot to watch the dance and it wasn't too crowded. Thank you to the team for a wonderful time!
