This was a great find! ...
This was a great find! The tour is set to talk while you walk and it knows where you are. I travel alone a lot and usually for just a day or two to look around and this is perfect as there is no official start or end and you can listen at any time, even if you are just doing a virtual version of the tour.
Response from the operator: Melanie, thank you for taking my Salem and Witch Trials GPS walking tour. I’m so glad it was a great find and that the GPS audio made it easy to explore at your own pace, whether walking in Salem or listening virtually. I’m happy it worked so well for your solo travel style. Don't go in spring. Most things are closed or close early
The is my third trip to Salem. For the most part it was ok. Most things were closed because it is early in the season .
Response from the operator: Thank you for your feedback. I understand that visiting early in the season can mean some places are closed or have limited hours. I always recommend checking in advance for seasonal closures or early closing times so you can plan your visit accordingly. The good news is that my Salem tour doesn’t require entry into any museums, so it can be enjoyed in any season! The tour is also valid forever, so you can come back anytime and enjoy the stops you may have missed. If you ever need assistance, I’m available daily from 9 AM to 6 PM EST.

Download the Apps ahead
The set up was a little stressful (required downloading two apps while paused on a sidewalk), but once we got things downloaded and set up, it was a great tour experience! I would definitely recommend downloading ahead of time, but also why do there need to be TWO different apps?
Response from the operator: Deanna, thank you for sharing your feedback on my Ultimate Historic Salem and Witch Trials Self-Guided Walking Audio Tour. I’m glad you enjoyed the experience once everything was set up! I understand the initial setup can feel a bit stressful, which is why I always recommend checking your confirmation email or text right after booking — it includes clear instructions and the download link for my app. You only need to download my app once, and from there you’ll have access to all your purchased tours in one place. If you're planning to explore more of Massachusetts, check out my Self-Guided Driving and Walking Tours Bundle—it includes the Freedom Trail, Cape Cod, Plymouth, and more, all with the same flexibility and storytelling you loved!

Very thorough and detailed.
We really enjoyed the narration and being able to take the tour when we wanted. The only reason I gave it a 4 instead of 5 is because it didn’t always start on its own.
Response from the operator: Mary, I’m so glad you enjoyed my Salem and Witch Trials audio tour and the flexibility to explore at your own pace! For future reference, to ensure the audio starts automatically, please begin at the designated start point. Once you do, the app will ask for access to guide you there, and from that point on, the narration will trigger automatically. Thank you for sharing your feedback, and I’m glad you had a great experience overall. If you're up for more immersive walks, check out my Massachusetts Self-Guided Driving and Walking Tours Bundle, which includes tours like Freedom Trail, Cape Cod, Plymouth, and more—perfect for exploring at your own pace.

Why this scores 58
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Ultimate Historic Salem and Witch Trials Self-Guided Walking Tour: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Salem.
How much does Ultimate Historic Salem and Witch Trials Self-Guided Walking Tour cost?
+
Prices start at $17 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Salem usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Ultimate Historic Salem and Witch Trials Self-Guided Walking Tour take?
+
Plan for about 1 hour from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Salem is not rushed.
Is Ultimate Historic Salem and Witch Trials Self-Guided Walking Tour worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 58 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.3/5 across 73 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Salem, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Ultimate Historic Salem and Witch Trials Self-Guided Walking Tour?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Ultimate Historic Salem and Witch Trials Self-Guided Walking Tour suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 1-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Ultimate Historic Salem and Witch Trials Self-Guided Walking Tour?
+
Around 26 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Salem can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Salem and add a light layer if any part of the 1-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Ultimate Historic Salem and Witch Trials Self-Guided Walking Tour start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Salem within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Salem?
+
Salem runs witch trial history tours, ghost and cemetery walks, museum entries and harbour trips, with October turning the whole town into a month-long event. On Outty we rank every Salem experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include History and Hauntings of Salem Guided Walking Tour, Satanic Salem Walking Tour, Salem Voodoo, Vampires, and Ghosts Guided Walking Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Salem?
+
September to October for atmosphere, May to June for smaller crowds. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Salem?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
