What you'll see and do
Mile End
This 4 hour chocolate tour begins at chocolate factory- a bean-to-bar chocolate maker's production site. Learn about the process of making chocolate and listen to the owner's personal story. See the beans and other parts of the process that take place, all while tasting three chocolates, made mostly with single-origin beans. Afterwards, walk to a small Mexican restaurant through the Mile End neighborhood. Enjoy a light meal with mole tamales, agues frescas and traditional Mexican chocolate as well as an explication of chocolate in Mesoamerica during the Colonial period. Take the opportunity to hear about the owner and chef of the restaurant and peruse her privately imported Mexican products. Then walk through the Mile End with quick stops at a historic site to learn about the origins of the neighborhood. Leave the Mile-End for the Mile-Ex. Arrive at a cocktail and high high end knife shop for a tasting of two cocktails or virgin cocktails. Finish at a bean-to-bar boutique for a chocolate tasting, a cacao drink and a tasting of confections made with single origin chocolate. Taste three very different chocolates with an explanation of how to sample them and a tasting wheel to help with the vocabulary for chocolate tasting. Then contrast with the confections. There will then be time to shop and ask questions.

Highly Recommend
The tour was well organized. It carefully built on different chocolate experiences along the way. Each one was unique and fun. Melissa is highly knowledgable and is talented at sharing information. She has put together a great tour. The factory element was very informative and will make you passionate about chocolate production. I would highly recommend! As it says in the description, don’t get put off by the meeting point. Wait in the lobby, you are in the right place.
Response from the operator: Thank you Kim! I really appreciate the review! I love the touch at the end about the lobby. I actually like that because people are pleasantly shocked and surprised when they find out what they're in for, after being unsure at the beginning. :) It was a great group and great day! All the best to both of you. Maybe we'll see you again on another tour someday?

Great tour!
Fantastic! Melissa was very knowledgeable and personable. When we had questions before the tour, she was very responsive. We learned a lot, had a great time, and tasted fantastic foods and drinks! Tour included walking and driving, and we made chocolate bars to take home.
Response from the operator: Thanks so much Jacqueline! I'm really glad you enjoyed it! It really is an enjoyable tour!

Learn to appreciate chocolate
Other than knowing about chocolate in a general sense and that it comes from cacoa plants, this tour gave us a much better appreciation of the entire process to making chocolate. The guide, Melissa, accommodated our scheduling conflict and taught us so much at each stop. At each stop, she had us really take time to smell and taste different chocolates to appreciate the differences. At the factory the owner and Melissa talked about each step of the process from selecting cacoa seeds, drying them, roasting, separating them and we could see and taste the differences by changing something at each step. We got to try our hand at making some chocolate bars and adding nuts or other things to take with us. Not skimpy on samples, multiple samples, and all of the guides/owners were so kind, informative, and fun. It wasn't too much walking, easy pace, and our teenager enjoyed the tour (the other family had a middle schooler). It was a mix of listening and doing, so even younger kids would be able to participate and learn something along the way. Lots of visuals and the people were prepared with large pictures for us to be able to see. Highly recommend this tour.
Response from the operator: I really appreciate the detailed review. This tour has been revamped recently and is better than ever! Thank you for spreading the word and sharing your experience!

A Must While in Montréal
Had such a surprisingly good time on this tour…Who knew there was so much to making chocolate…Melissa was a gem and an absolute scholar on chocolate and so much more…Highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Montréal…The experience was well worth it…
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for the review and being game because I know you aren’t a fan of high percentage chocolate. I’m so glad you enjoyed it! You were both a treat to have on the tour, you and the true chocolate lover you came out on it for! All the best!

Montreal Chocolate tour
I live in Montreal, but Melissa gave us more than a chocolate tour, which was awesome. She gave us history of Montreal that I didn't know about!
Response from the operator: Thank you so much Lucia. You were both great to have on the tour! I'm glad you rediscovered your city!

Ultimate Chocolate Tour in Montreal with Included Tastings: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Montreal.
How much does Ultimate Chocolate Tour in Montreal with Included Tastings cost?
+
Prices start at $165 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Montreal usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Ultimate Chocolate Tour in Montreal with Included Tastings take?
+
Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Montreal is not rushed.
Is Ultimate Chocolate Tour in Montreal with Included Tastings worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 64 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 24 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Montreal, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Ultimate Chocolate Tour in Montreal with Included Tastings?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Ultimate Chocolate Tour in Montreal with Included Tastings suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Ultimate Chocolate Tour in Montreal with Included Tastings?
+
Around 8 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Montreal can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Montreal and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Ultimate Chocolate Tour in Montreal with Included Tastings start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Montreal within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Montreal?
+
On Outty we rank every Montreal experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include The Essential 101 Non-Touristy Walking Tour by Spade & Palacio, Old Montreal Walking Tour | Small Group (Max 10) | by MTL Detours, The Full-Day small-group comprehensive tour of Montreal. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Montreal?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Montreal?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
