Friends trip
Mo was a great driver and host. We had a great time exploring the wineries. Only suggestion would be to visit the Salt Lick in between wineries instead of the first stop. It’s early to eat lunch

Evan was the best
From pick up to drop off everything was top notch. First stop at Salt Lick BBQ for lunch was great. Portions are big so order accordingly.Visited two wineries before the ride back in our Mercedes Sprinter. Evan had us rocking on the way back with his “musical” game. Would definitely recommend and would do again if ever returning to Austin.

I thoroughly enjoyed the...
I thoroughly enjoyed the trip to the hill country to taste the famous Texas BBQ and do some wine tasting. We visited 3 wineries and had the chance to sample 5 or 6 wines in each of them. I bought 3 bottles of my favorites. The selection of BBQ place was excellent (the famous Salt Lick) and we wisely visited there prior to the wine tasting. The 2 guides (Moe and Koh) were very nice and lots of fun. I highly recommend tours with this company.

This activity was...
This activity was cancelled the morning of by the Longhorn and with the automated messages, we were under the impression we could still book since it allowed us to and I got a confirmation after rebooking. I called several times to confirm, and went straight to voicemail. Viator reached out and they also got no response. I still got refunded for both trips, but the lack of communication, the day of cancellation, and no kind of apology just turned me off as we had to adjust our day and find another wine trip for the next day. This is probably a spectacular trip as wine country in Texas is amazing and I just feel bad that I did not get to experience it here.
Response from the operator: Thank you for your feedback, and we're sorry you weren't able to join us. Unfortunately, an API issue on Viator's booking system allowed additional reservations to come through after our vehicle had already reached capacity. The cancellation was initiated by Viator, not Longhorn Wine Tours, after the overbooking issue occurred, and Viator subsequently processed the refunds. We do apologize for the difficulty reaching us that morning. We were working to address the unexpected booking issue, but we understand how frustrating the situation and lack of communication must have been while you were trying to confirm your plans. We appreciate your kind words about our tour despite not getting the opportunity to experience it. We hope you'll give Longhorn Wine Tours another opportunity on a future visit to Texas Wine Country.

Our tour guide was friendly and knowledgable. I booked this experience for my husbands birthday and we had so much fun! The wine vineyards were great. We bought a few bottles of wine to take home that’s how much we liked it. Our group was super fun and funny!! We had a great time!!

Why this scores 69
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
TX Hill Country BBQ and Wine Tour + FREE DOWNTOWN HOTEL DROP OFF: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Austin.
How much does TX Hill Country BBQ and Wine Tour + FREE DOWNTOWN HOTEL DROP OFF cost?
+
Prices start at $69 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Austin usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does TX Hill Country BBQ and Wine Tour + FREE DOWNTOWN HOTEL DROP OFF take?
+
Plan for about 4.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Austin is not rushed.
Is TX Hill Country BBQ and Wine Tour + FREE DOWNTOWN HOTEL DROP OFF worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 69 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.7/5 across 35 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Austin, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule TX Hill Country BBQ and Wine Tour + FREE DOWNTOWN HOTEL DROP OFF?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is TX Hill Country BBQ and Wine Tour + FREE DOWNTOWN HOTEL DROP OFF suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book TX Hill Country BBQ and Wine Tour + FREE DOWNTOWN HOTEL DROP OFF?
+
Around 12 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Austin can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Austin and add a light layer if any part of the 4.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does TX Hill Country BBQ and Wine Tour + FREE DOWNTOWN HOTEL DROP OFF start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Austin within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Austin?
+
Austin's activity list runs on food and water: barbecue crawls to the pits that sell out by noon, Lady Bird Lake kayaking under the Congress Avenue bat colony, live music walks on Rainey and Red River, and Hill Country wine and distillery runs. We weight timing detail in the ranking, because a barbecue tour that arrives after the brisket is gone is a different product entirely. On Outty we rank every Austin experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include From Austin: Hill Country BBQ & Wine Shuttle, Best of Austin Small-Group Driving Tour with Local Guide, The Escape Game: Epic 60-Minute Adventures in Downtown Austin. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Austin?
+
March to May and October to November, avoiding the triple-digit summer. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Austin?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
