If you are a world traveler, don't have overly high expectations for scenic spots

Perhaps because few people sign up for group tours, I joined a private customized tour this time. It wasn't cheap. Most of the two-day tour was spent on the road. It started and ended in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, not in Tajikistan. The two major attractions I saw over those two days were quite nice. The overnight hotel was in town, far from the attractions, so there was no chance to watch the sunrise or sunset by the lake. I changed my itinerary midway, not returning to Samarkand, but going directly to Dushanbe. The tour guide helped me find a shared taxi. Shared taxis only accept cash. Driving on the mountain roads was hard on the driver. The tour guide was very responsible. This two-person team, along with the driver who picked me up at the Samarkand hotel, were not employees of the travel agency. Therefore, they sometimes needed to communicate and coordinate.

    Full-on 2-Day Tajikistan from Samarkand

Great 2-days and excellent organization. Pick-ups from hotel were on time. Driver will take you to frontier & you get picked up on the other side. Excellent response time from agent to any questions I had. Day1 was 7 Lakes - a very nice day - take a pique-nique. Day2 Iskender Lake is further away but well worth the visit if you have 2 days. Know that you will have some bumpy ‘roads’ 😉 Tajikistan is mostly mountains offering beautiful scenery - Recommend DiscoveryStan for their professionalism

It was good tour, but little expensive with a group.

The trip was totally worth it. The organiser was good. Both guide and driver were very friendly and helpful. The 4x4 car was very comfortable. Altogether it was a private tour. About the places visited, it was damn beautiful. Especially seven lakhs, a must in my opinion! Iskandarkul was a stretch, if you got time. But one thing I can guarantee the way to iskandarkul is damn beautiful! About the price, for 1 person the prices justifies. But say you are 2 or 3 ppl together, it is way too expensive! At this price if they include Dushande with another day, it would be very perfect. Ideal price should per group. Unfortunately, there is not much option available for the 2day trip to Tajikistan. Hence this is the only best option if you are looking for a 2 day tours.

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your feedback! 🙏 We’re very happy you enjoyed the trip and the beauty of Seven Lakes and Iskandarkul. This tour is arranged as a private experience, only for you and your friends, which is why we provide comfortable 4×4 cars — it makes the journey smooth but also affects the price. We have tried offering group tours, but since Tajikistan is still a small and less–touristy country, it’s not easy to gather enough people for fixed group departures. Still, we’re always looking for ways to improve and appreciate your suggestions.

A series of scenic tours of Tajikistan

Both Lake Iskandar and the Seven Lakes were beautiful enough to disappoint. The road to get there was also a series of spectacular views. Thanks to the fine weather and the attentive drivers.

Response from the operator: ありがとうございま す! We are glad you enjoyed the stunning landscapes and had a comfortable journey. Hope to see you again!

Two Days in Fann Mountains at Iskandarkul and Sevenlake: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Samarkand.

How much does Two Days in Fann Mountains at Iskandarkul and Sevenlake cost?

    +

Prices start at $100 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Samarkand usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Two Days in Fann Mountains at Iskandarkul and Sevenlake take?

    +

Plan for about 48 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Samarkand is not rushed.

Is Two Days in Fann Mountains at Iskandarkul and Sevenlake worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 68 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.7/5 across 7 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Samarkand, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Two Days in Fann Mountains at Iskandarkul and Sevenlake?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Two Days in Fann Mountains at Iskandarkul and Sevenlake suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 48-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Two Days in Fann Mountains at Iskandarkul and Sevenlake?

    +

Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Samarkand can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Samarkand and add a light layer if any part of the 48-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Two Days in Fann Mountains at Iskandarkul and Sevenlake start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Samarkand within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Samarkand?

    +

On Outty we rank every Samarkand experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include A City Tour Of Samarkand: The Pearl Of The East, Private Samarkand City Tour with Transport: Inside Attractions, Seven Lakes Day Tour from Samarkand (Private & Group Options). The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Samarkand?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Samarkand?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
