What you get
About this experience
The city of Herculaneum was accidentally found during the excavations for expanding a well in 1709. The excavations began only in 1764 then resumed in 1823 then stopped again in 1875, until they finally restarted in 1927. You will see narrower streets with normal height sidewalks, as the city was already provided with a sewer system unlike Pompeii, which was not equipped with it. Moreover the town had a city aqueduct that allowed rich people to have water directly in their houses. There is a good preservation of the houses in Herculaneum that are visibly more luxurious than Pompeii’s; the reason is to be attributed to the blanket of mud and to high pyroclastic materials from 10 to 25 meters high, which solidified until getting a rock floor called "Pappamonte" , a material quite similar to tuff. A residential location inhabited by the Roman aristocracy, differently from Pompeii, which was a working city.

3hr trip Herculaneum to Sorrento
Took 3hr to get from Herculaneum to Sorrento.. we were communicating with our driver, but still had to wait a few minutes for him to pick us up where he left us off which delayed our start time a small amount. It would’ve been nice to have water offered to us after our HOT Herculaneum tour.
Response from the operator: Dear Janice , we are sorry if you felt like we missed in our duties but we feel like to disagree with you about all your comment and your rating to our service, we are constantly in touch with our driver we also allowed you to change pickup time several times in order to meet your needs and through the conversation we know that the driver picked up you earlier, if you got to the ruins late as you said this is not up to us because we don’t control traffic, the pickup back the driver was earlier then you and the police send him away since you were not there and that’s just a pickup and drop off spot not a parking, even in that case there’s nothing we can do and it was maximum few minutes, about the water in the product details you would notice that water is not included so we don’t owe you, the last complain you had about the 3 hours drive from The Ruins to Sorrento is absolutely the one that more we don’t understand because as I mentioned we don’t control traffic and there’s only one road to go to Sorrento, the driver was more stressed then you were being in traffic so long, maybe you should read more about the place next time, hope we have been able to clarify our position and what happened, we also hope you gonna revalue our rating up because it’s not work only 4 stars , hope to hear back from you soon and to have you on board again.

Enjoyable transfer from Naples to Sorrento.
Paolo was our driver who was in communication with me days before our pickup. He suggested the Afragola station to save time and hassle and he was of course spot on. As a first time visitor to Italy, I really appreciated not only his skill as a driver but as a person having a conversation about his country. He is very personable and spoke about history and his personal life with equal skill. He gave us some great tips and recommendations to enjoy Sorrento. I wholeheartedly recommend Paolo to any potential customers if they want not only a safe and smooth drive but someone to have a nice laugh and conversation.

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Naples.
How much does Transfer From Naples Train Station/area to Sorrento 2hr stop in Herculaneum cost?
+
Prices start at $51 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Naples usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Transfer From Naples Train Station/area to Sorrento 2hr stop in Herculaneum take?
+
Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Naples is not rushed.
Is Transfer From Naples Train Station/area to Sorrento 2hr stop in Herculaneum worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 60 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.7/5 across 3 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Naples, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Transfer From Naples Train Station/area to Sorrento 2hr stop in Herculaneum?
+

+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Transfer From Naples Train Station/area to Sorrento 2hr stop in Herculaneum?
+
Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Naples can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Naples and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Transfer From Naples Train Station/area to Sorrento 2hr stop in Herculaneum start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Naples within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Naples?
+
On Outty we rank every Naples experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Full Day Private Amalfi Coast Tour from Sorrento/Naples/Salerno, Caserta Royal Palace & Gardens Small Group Tour with Shuttle, Naples Pizza and Tiramisu Cooking Class. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Naples?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Naples?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
