Great trip and definitely worth doing if visiting Tam Coc!

What a brilliant day trip including the boat trip through the three caves. Our boat woman was skilled, fun and delightful. We were lucky to go the 1000m cave with no boats ahead of us: very special.

Tour 1 was quieter and serene

It starts off a bit chaotic getting bundled onto the boats but after you set off its really nice. Be prepared to do some rowing its part of the fun! Tour 1 was much quieter and you go through more small caves, however a few of the stops for “temples” were disappointing (just small shrines). If you want the better tour but don’t mind the crowds i would say 2 or 3 is better but definitely way busier. Fairly priced for a 3 hour activity and cheap to get a taxi to/from Ninh Binh.

Good tour in Ninh Bing province

The tour was really good. Xui was a great guide and we enjoyed his jokes. The Budist complex was spectacular, do not miss it.

    Great trip, it’s a must

Surprised this trip ain’t higher in the trip advisor ranks. Absolutely loved it, one of the best trips in Vietnam. It was the only trip I did in Vietnam where they don’t beg you for a review as well what was nice

Go here, but choose a different tour

I would certainly recommend going to Ninh Binh, but choose a different tour. The tour started with an extremely small and uncomfortable bus. Several people were promised limousines, but were not given this. On the 3 hours bus journey, we were taken to a location where we were given a 20 min sales pitch on buying bamboo clothes. We were never informed about this, and were confused by the whole arrangement. It felt odd to be forced into sales tactics after paying a lot for the tour. After getting back on the bus, we spent a lot of time dropping people off at different location, before getting to the Pagoda. The Pagoda is beautiful, but we did not get to see it up close. The guide also could not answer any of our questions regarding the history of the place. We then went to the Trang An Grottoes. It was beautiful, but we did not get to see any of the grottoes (and we were not told why) and it is very over crowded. We were also placed on a boat with another couple, and did not get to see much of the view as we were behind them, although we asked to change. We were then taken to a third location which was not included in our tour, and we got to choose to either sit outside in the hot weather for over an hour, and wait for the others or pay more to participate. We were not informed of this, and we spent a lot of time waiting for others, as we were not dressed for this nor were we expecting to have to pay extra. There were also several hidden costs (such as the bus to the Pagoda, which was also not included). The lunch is a buffet style with lots of other tour groups in a storage facility, and does not feel genuine or charming. All around, I would certainly recommend these sites, but the tour does not feel informative or genuine, and is full of hidden costs and sales tactics. The tour took a lot longer than promised, as we spent a lot of time waiting for activities that were not part of our package.

Trang An grottoes - Bai Dinh Pagoda Day Tours: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Hanoi.

How much does Trang An grottoes - Bai Dinh Pagoda Day Tours cost?

    +

Prices start at $58 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Hanoi usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Trang An grottoes - Bai Dinh Pagoda Day Tours take?

    +

Plan for about 12 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Hanoi is not rushed.

Is Trang An grottoes - Bai Dinh Pagoda Day Tours worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 59 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.6/5 across 75 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable culture & history in Hanoi, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Trang An grottoes - Bai Dinh Pagoda Day Tours?

    +

No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.

Is Trang An grottoes - Bai Dinh Pagoda Day Tours suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 12-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Trang An grottoes - Bai Dinh Pagoda Day Tours?

    +

Around 26 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Hanoi can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Hanoi and add a light layer if any part of the 12-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Trang An grottoes - Bai Dinh Pagoda Day Tours start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Hanoi within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Hanoi?

    +

On Outty we rank every Hanoi experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Ninh Binh Day Trip from Hanoi with Tam Coc or Trang An & Mua Cave, Ha Giang Loop Tour 4 Days 3 Nights with Ha Giang Vision Tour, Halong Bay Day Tour With Titop Island, Cave, Kayak & Lunch. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Hanoi?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Hanoi?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
