Cook Traditional Moroccan Tagine and Soup cooking lesson

This was a truly lovely experience to cook a superb delicious vegetable tagine and Moroccan soup in Fatimas apartmemt. Excellent value for money, we were welcomed as part of Fatimas family and ate with her and her family. The whole cooking experience and market shopping for ingredients took about 5 hours. Absolutely loved this experience, thank you Fatima for teaching me how to tagine, I loved it

    Best of Berber cooking class

Cooking with Fatima was super. Buying foods in the market to preparing the dishes and chatting with her and her husband over lunch was a special time.

Pleasant afternoon But not really about the Food

We booked this as a private cooking class for 3 reasons. One market tour, second how to make tagines & third to learn about Moroccon food. So first of all this was not a private tour we joined 7 other people so in all we were 10 people. Our fellow tourist were really nice & it was fun talking food to them but it was not what we expected. Secondly the market tour was a 5 min walk thru where we followed Fatima thru the market seeing her buy ingredients. There was no information or interaction of any kind to help us experience the market / shops. Since I was interested I asked questions & got answers. Thirdly we cooked a chicken tagine and a fish one where we helped cut vegetables and saw the tagines being cooked. It took a long while to cook so we had to rush out after 3.5 hrs and missed the tea. The chicken tasted nice but was dry and over cooked. The sardine tagine tasted fine. Both seemed fairly basic with meat & veg. There was no other information about Moroccon food. The afternoon was nice and good for people who want to spend a pleasant time in a locals house eating their food as Fatima & her husband were really nice people. But this is not a class for those with serious food / cooking interest.

    Amazing Experience

This is our first time doing a cooking experience whilst on holiday, it was an amazing opportunity to get to see authentic Morocco and get to learn more about the culture and life in Morocco. Fatima was fantastic, we got to go around her local market to select the ingredients to make our Lamb Tagine and then were taken to her lovely home to cook. The food was amazing, we learned so much from her and will definitely do something like this again on our next trip. Thank you Fatima for an experience.

    Delightful family cooking experience

Fatima was so kind, generous and fun to hang out with. We met at the medina, taxi'd to her local market, got to choose what we wanted to cook, then went back to her lovely house to make it all. It was an absolute feast; we had lentil-meatball tagine, taktouka and two flat breads, all homemade. We finished it off with fruit and some sweets we got from the market, and had a wonderful time chatting with her. Thank you Fatima!! 💜

Traditional Moroccan Cooking Class: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Essaouira.

How much does Traditional Moroccan Cooking Class cost?

    +

Prices start at $39 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Essaouira usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Traditional Moroccan Cooking Class take?

    +

Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Essaouira is not rushed.

Is Traditional Moroccan Cooking Class worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 86 out of 100, which we label "Exceptional". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 99 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most popular in Essaouira, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Traditional Moroccan Cooking Class?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Traditional Moroccan Cooking Class suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Traditional Moroccan Cooking Class?

    +

Around 35 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Essaouira can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Essaouira and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Traditional Moroccan Cooking Class start and how do I get there?

    +

What are the best things to do in Essaouira?

    +

The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Essaouira?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Essaouira?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
