Bad bad bad

This was a bad experience. The boat ride was terrible 4 to 6 foot seas. Lunch was supposed to be at 2:30. We didn’t get lunch till 4 o’clock. We ended up taking an Uber back from the last spot so we didn’t have to get pounded on the boat. Boat ride was horrible.

Good if you prepare yourself right.

We were the only 2 people speaking English and our tour guide communicated with us mostly via pre-written texts. We expected more. No water was given on the trip and no towels either. Bring with you: Water, change of cloth, lots of small bills for tips, you'll need them. My second time at the volcano, the first one was organized better. Best part - lunch on the beach. (Drinks extra) Good food and refreshing dip in the ocean afterwards!

Good but not as advertised

We didn’t go to Galerazamba as advertised, only the volcano and a resort with a beach. The volcano experience felt very good though and the guide was friendly and helpful.

Great mud hole

They take you to the smallest vocano I have ever seen. At the top of a rickety uneven stairway is a mud hole about 15 Sq. Ft . There was a lineup We waited 10 minutes to get in, which was O.K. because you got to see others getting all slimed up. The experience itself is worthwhile and pretty much unforgettable. You do get nickel and dimed to death with the 'massage'? And cleaning in the lake (bring about 15,000 Pesos each. My only complaint was the very long lunch (2 hours) . That stretched the tour to the 6 hours promised. Beware that there was a big descreptency in the price that most people paid. We got a very good deal Through TripAdvisor the day before. Many people paid up to double through their hotels - for the same service

Great overall experience!

I am happy to have had the chance to do the volcano tour. Wendy was our tour guide, and she did a great job informing us of everything that was going to happen. I will never forget this interesting experience. I recommend everyone to just got for it! You only live once, enjoy the journey.

Tour Volcán Del Totumo: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Cartagena.

How much does Tour Volcán Del Totumo cost?

+

Prices start at $43 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Cartagena usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Tour Volcán Del Totumo take?

+

Plan for about 6 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Cartagena is not rushed.

Is Tour Volcán Del Totumo worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 52 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (3.2/5 across 5 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Cartagena, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Tour Volcán Del Totumo?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Tour Volcán Del Totumo suitable for kids and families?

+

The operator sets a minimum age of 10. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 6-hour running time when deciding.

How far in advance should I book Tour Volcán Del Totumo?

+

Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Cartagena can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Cartagena and add a light layer if any part of the 6-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Tour Volcán Del Totumo start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Cartagena within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Cartagena?

+

On Outty we rank every Cartagena experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Cartagena Street Food Tour: 10 Local Tastings in the Walled City, Historic Center & Getsemaní Shared Tour in Cartagena, Cartagena Cooking Class with Local Chef (Small Group Experience). The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Cartagena?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Cartagena?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
