Villa dei Vescovi, the ancient holiday residence of the high prelates of Padua, dates back to the first half of the 16th century and is the result of a series of transformations, decorations and extensions. It will be exciting to be enchanted by the harmonious way in which the building binds itself to the surrounding landscape and by the beauty of the Euganean Hills seen through the great arches of the loggias and the hanging courtyard. Inside the Villa we will pass through the noble rooms, the bedroom, the lounges and the large and luminous hall where our eyes will be gladdened, step by step, by Lambert Sustris' splendid cycle of frescoes with bucolic motifs.

Well-kept park
Near the park, there is free parking available, not very large but sufficient for the needs of visitors. Access to the park requires an entrance ticket, the cost of which is not particularly cheap; however, the care and maintenance of the spaces justify the price. Inside, it is possible to visit the park and, with an additional charge of 4 euros, access the labyrinth, an interesting additional attraction. The path winds through various well-kept green areas and decorative fountains, which make the walk pleasant and relaxing. Particularly evocative is the “rabbit island,” where it is possible to observe some specimens in the wild, as well as the aviary, which houses various small birds. Access to these areas is not permitted, but observation from close range still offers a pleasant experience. In the park there is also a bar, ideal for a relaxing break during the visit. Overall, the experience is worth recommending.

If there is one garden you visit, this is it!
Wonderful tour and terrific tour guide in Chiara! My wife and I took this tour to conclude our first visit to Italy - and it was beautiful, informative and enjoyable. Our guide was so helpful and informative leading our small group of 4 to both locations. My wife gets car sick easily, so the travel in a nicely air-conditioned van driven by Chiara who navigated the route so smoothly, providing us background and answering questions throughout the motor trip portion was most appreciated. We were picked up and dropped off at a convenient location in Padova, just a 5-minute walk from where we were staying. The gardens and their history are beautiful, grand and welcoming. Chiara’s narration throughout made a big difference to improving our understanding of the gardens and their history. The same can be said for our visit to the Villa. If you’d like to see a slice of a remarkable garden in particular, you won’t be disappointed. Ask for Chiara, too!

A Day in the Country
The Villa Vescovi was a real gem. After a scenic ride through the hills, we were escorted to what had once been a private residence but now is under state control government conservatorship. The frescoes, which date back centuries, beautifully illustrate the close interrelationship of architecture and the natural landscape surrounding the estate. Although the day was rainy, the misty atmosphere enhanced the experience of gazing through the logia arches out into the partially obstructed hills and nearby fields and gardens. The Valsansibio Gardens were a perfect place for a serene and cleansing walk in the country. The meticulously maintained grounds offered serene vistas of symmetrical alleys, water features, and even some surprises like (spoiler alert!) a fabulous labyrinth and an island of bunnies! We were so happy to have Nico as our guide for the second day in a row! He really took time to show us these special sites and explain in as much detail as we wanted, their history and back stories.

Perfect day off path in stunning core Veneto - history, nature, art and soul of this place
Two very different, but both absolutely stunning villas slightly off the common path. Nico, our knowledgeable and passionate about this region guide, gave us very interesting insights as well as time and space for reflection in these beautiful places. Sunny autemn weather made the whole trip perfect. We also appreciated his advice on place for lunch after the tour in Padova very much. Easy communications, logistics and perfect timing. Highly recommend for slow mindful traveling
