We will visit a series of lagoons inside the Salar de Atacama, the largest salt flat in Chile. We will first visit the Ojos del Salar, two deep wells of fresh water in the middle of the desert, where you can enjoy a refreshing swim. Then we will visit the Tebinquinche Lagoon, where we will walk along its path to appreciate the magnificent views, where the sky merges with the desert and the whiteness of the salt. The tour continues in the famous Laguna Cejar and Laguna Piedra, surrounded by green and yellow grass that highlights the color of the water, contemplating a unique landscape of turquoise waters and volcanoes. In the latter we can enjoy a bath with which we will experience the flotation effect, similar to that of the Dead Sea. To end the day, we will enjoy a snack watching the sunset overlooking these lagoons. Bathing is only allowed in Laguna Piedra and Ojos del Salar. Bathing is not allowed in Laguna Cejar or Laguna Tebinquinche.

    Nice laguna to visit

The tour was good, except that it did not match the description on Viator. The guide was good, the vehicle was clean, and it matched about 80% of what was sold to us. The trick is that by booking it in advance from Viator, you are dealing with multiple layers of wholesalers and a little bit gets lost in translation between them. Considering we had a car, it was not worth it for us personally. If you have no vehicle or travel as single, read well, reconfirm many times and you will likely be ok. Also, keep in mind that you will be picked up from hotel but they will not bring you back.

    This is a very pleasant...

This is a very pleasant tour to the Atacama, quite close to San Pedro. Victoria was a great guide. Very little walking is necessary. The "floating" in the lagoon was really nice. The refreshments were very tasty.

Response from the operator: Muchas gracias, nos encanta saber que disfrutó de la experiencia y de nuestros tours. Lo hacemos con mucho gusto y profesionalidad. Saludos de parte de todo el equipo de GUIASTOURS.

A refreshing escape from the Santiago

This tour was an excellent way to start our time in San Pedro de Atacama! Floating in Laguna Cejar was so refreshing paired with an excellent view. I appreciated seeing the two different lakes and taking in the gorgeous viewpoints along the way. We ended the trip with some delicious snacks and the essential Chilean drink: pisco sours. I will say be prepared for the entry fees for each park as they were a bit steeper in price than I had anticipated. I suggest coming prepared with cash (about $20.000 CLP/person). Nevertheless, I found this tour to be very worthwhile and one of my highlights from my time in the desert.

Response from the operator: Muchas gracias, nos alegramos que disfrutarás de tu experiencia. Saludos

    Awesome Time!

Really cool tour! We went to two lagoons (one of which we swam in). Afterwards, we stopped and had a snack on the side of the road and watched the sun set behind the Andes. Awesome experience and I would definitely recommend.

Response from the operator: we are happy for your opinion and that your experience was fantastic, Thank you very much

Tour to Laguna Cejar and Tibenquinche: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for San Pedro de Atacama.

How much does Tour to Laguna Cejar and Tibenquinche cost?

    +

Prices start at $59 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in San Pedro de Atacama usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Tour to Laguna Cejar and Tibenquinche take?

    +

Plan for about 5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in San Pedro de Atacama is not rushed.

Is Tour to Laguna Cejar and Tibenquinche worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 61 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.6/5 across 7 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in San Pedro de Atacama, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Tour to Laguna Cejar and Tibenquinche?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Tour to Laguna Cejar and Tibenquinche suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Tour to Laguna Cejar and Tibenquinche?

    +

Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in San Pedro de Atacama can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in San Pedro de Atacama and add a light layer if any part of the 5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Tour to Laguna Cejar and Tibenquinche start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central San Pedro de Atacama within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in San Pedro de Atacama?

    +

On Outty we rank every San Pedro de Atacama experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Half Day Tour to Geysers del Tatio, Piedras Rojas + Altiplanic Lagoons and Salar de Atacama, Hidden lagoons of Baltinache. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit San Pedro de Atacama?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in San Pedro de Atacama?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.

What is included in Tour to Laguna Cejar and Tibenquinche?

    +

Included: In-vehicle air conditioning. Not included: entrance to the park; and ticket to Laguna Tebinquinche (CLP$ 6,000 per person). Always check the voucher for the final list before you travel.
