Walid will share his vast Islamic, Old and Coptic knowledge and love of Cairo.

Walid was the best tour guide! It was like a professor teaching us very important details and answering all of our questions. He made learning fun ... And with humor. This was a very comprehensive view and a fairly long day.... Which is what we wanted. We even asked for a slight itinerary change and he accomodated. It was a good balance to Giza-focused tour, covering the history and religions in Cairo. We wanted to end in Khan el-Khalili and Walid and driver accomodated that. We were not forced (we were offered and accepted) to stop at a papyrus or perfume store but these were definitely "tour only" locations ....not in a common market. The quality was excellent but the costs higher then elsewhere in Cairo. We saw buses stop at other (similar) shops on the same block but otherwise not in a pedestrian area. The only thing that could have been better was the lunch. The food was good but I would have preferred a well-known local restaurant with options to choose off a menu (I wanted famous koushari). We were not able to pick items that we may have preferred. Honestly, I don't like buffets and I also would have liked to control what my family ordered, how much we were charged and to pay with a credit card. Paying for the meal, instead became a foreign currency transaction to the guide. I think this too is a common tour practice and not under control of our guide. There are many quick tours available for a few of the locations we saw but this allowed a much more detailed view and we appreciated the quality of Walid's knowledge. Ask for Walid by name!

Garbage tour operator and guide.

Please stay away from this tour operator. What a garbage tour guide his name is Mahmoud Elsayed. If you prepaid for the entrance tickets he wants to force you to give him the money. He will be rushing you the whole day to make your tour as short as possible. Then he took me to the lunch buffet $100 for 2 people Then he said he paid, but the restaurant won't take a credit card I checked and other people paid by credit card. he wants $100 cash back. We went to a different restaurants in Cairo and never came even close to paying $100 for 2 people meal This guy just wants to rip you off the whole day. I know this is what we should expect as tourist but not at this level. My wife felt super uncomfortable from the first moment. He will ignore the females 99% of the time. Stay away from this provider and this guide. There is no reason you can't make this tour with out a guide.

This tour is a scam!

THIS TOUR IS A SCAM! Out of the dozens of tours we’ve done with Viator, this was by far the worst experience. Do not book anything via this company!! They will not respond to you or refund you your money!! Our guide Mahmoud was very unprofessional and at times made us feel unsafe. He did not take us to places on the advertised itinerary, such as the Ben Ezra Synagogue and Church of Abu Sarga. In fact, he didn’t even know they existed and claimed they were closed. When we insisted on going, he waved us off, told us to hurry, and proceeded to talk to someone on his phone. He provided no explanations of the places we visited. When we complained to him, he was very aggressive and said he would not continue the tour. Then he drove off less than 2 hours into the tour at 10am this morning. This is after arriving late to the tour, such that we started at 8:20am instead of 8am. Please do not take this tour!! Viator should investigate this travel agency and guide.

Great tour with Khaled!

Khaled is an exceptionally professional and knowledgeable tour guide. His deep understanding of Egyptian history made the experience both educational and enjoyable. I truly appreciated how he explained historical details in a way that helped me learn and appreciate the culture even more. On top of that, Khaled was very kind and attentive throughout the tour, making the entire journey comfortable and memorable. Highly recommended!

Tour To Citadel And Coptic And Islamic Cairo: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Cairo.

How much does Tour To Citadel And Coptic And Islamic Cairo cost?

+

Prices start at $2 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Cairo usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Tour To Citadel And Coptic And Islamic Cairo take?

+

Plan for about 8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Cairo is not rushed.

Is Tour To Citadel And Coptic And Islamic Cairo worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 66 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.5/5 across 19 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Cairo, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Tour To Citadel And Coptic And Islamic Cairo?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Tour To Citadel And Coptic And Islamic Cairo suitable for kids and families?

+

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 8-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Tour To Citadel And Coptic And Islamic Cairo?

+

Around 7 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Cairo can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Cairo and add a light layer if any part of the 8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Tour To Citadel And Coptic And Islamic Cairo start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Cairo within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Cairo?

+

On Outty we rank every Cairo experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include All-in-One Giza Tour, inside Pyramid, sphinx, Camel ride & lunch, VIP Private Giza Pyramids, Sphinx Tour –Inside the Pyramids&More, Best of Cairo Private Giza Pyramids, Sphinx and Grand Museum Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Cairo?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Cairo?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
