Private tour of the Villas of Lake Como and their Gardens

Samantha from Lake Como Tourism is a star! They were so helpful in organising our tour. Coming from Australia and never having been to Italy, it was extremely challenging trying to get details and work out how to fit our accommodation in with tour dates and pick up points. Working with Samantha via email, they gave us options that fit into our schedule and location. The tour was wonderful! Our guide was both incredibly informative and passionate about the villas and gardens. Thank you Lake Como Tourism, and thank you Samantha!

Response from the operator: Dear Gavin, thank you so much for your kind words! It was a pleasure organizing this experience for you. We hope to have you back here on the lake. I wish you all the best, Samantha - Lake Como Tourism Staff

    Stunning Villas, disappointing “tour”

Both Villa Carlotta and the gardens were stunning! Just be aware that this is a self-guided tour with no guide to share the history and you will have to navigate the ferries and all transportation yourself. Skip the hefty fee and tour and you will get the same experience minus the lunch (which we skipped).

Response from the operator: Thank you for your review. We will take a cue to add a guidebook, in addition to the printed one we already send, to help those taking the tour with transportation management.

    Lovely villas and boat!

Really love the villas of Lake Como. Our guide Pietro was really fun and helpful, he presented all villas in his own way, not even a minute we were bored. The boat was also beautiful, we had the chance to have the Venetian style and the captain was also nice. A must to do tour when you visit Lake Como

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We are glad that you enjoyed your tour and the company of our guide Pietro. We hope to see you again in the furure.

One of the best destination in Italy

We booked this tour during our 2 weeks stay in Italy. We visited the main cities such as Rome, Florence and Milan. When we stayed in Milan we decided to visit also the other destination nearby, we chose the famous Lake Como. Our concierge recommended us this tour because we wanted to visit the beautiful villas of the place. We were really satisfied with the experience. The company's travel agent Rea, has assisted us patiently with the booking process and hotel transfers. The tour went well, and it even exeeds our expectation. We were also lucky because it was sunny, the lake was very calm.

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your wonderful review. We are glad that you enjoyed our tour and appreciated our service. We hope to see you again in the future!

    Beautiful Lake Como

Lake Como deserves the hype! The views are very magical, truly embraced by nature. We really enjoyed this tour. Gigliola was very kind and knowlegdable. We met her at Bellagio and board the private boat to visit the villas. We were amazed by the beauty of Villa Balbianello's park and Villa Carlotta, they were both well maintained. Then by 1 pm the boat drop us at the gardens of Villa Melzi, our last destination. The garden was very beautiful. After the tour we were picked up by the shuttle for our lunch. The restaurant was located on top of Bellagio, there was a great view of Lake Como. Best activity we did during our stay!

Response from the operator: Thank you so much Ms. Amara for your wonderful review! We are glad that you enjoyed every part of your tour. We hope to see you again in the future.

How long does Tour of the Historic Villas of Lake Como: Melzi and Carlotta take?

    +

Is Tour of the Historic Villas of Lake Como: Melzi and Carlotta worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 50 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.4/5 across 14 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most popular in Lake Como, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Tour of the Historic Villas of Lake Como: Melzi and Carlotta?

Is Tour of the Historic Villas of Lake Como: Melzi and Carlotta suitable for kids and families?

    +

Around 5 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Lake Como can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Lake Como and add a light layer if any part of the 7-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

    +

On Outty we rank every Lake Como experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Small-Group Lake Como & Lugano: 2 Countries in 1 Day, Boat Cruise, Como, Bellagio & Varenna: Small Group from Milan with Boat Cruise, Small-Group Lake Como: Bellagio, Varenna, Hidden Gorge & Boat. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Lake Como?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Lake Como?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
