About this experience
Founded in the 8th century BC, Cuma was the oldest Greek colony in Campania surrounded by an imposing city wall made of tufa rock. The archaeological park includes the Acropolis, the sacred area with the oldest temples, while the agorà with its public buildings is located in the lower city. To make unique the archaeological site of Cuma is, however, the presence of the so-called Sybil's Cave, a macabre place where the prophetess gave her oracles. The guided tour includes the visit to the hill currently open to the public, with the Acropolis and its temples, the Sibyl's Cave, the panoramic terrace with a breathtaking view on the gulf.

Insider tip and different again!
Was there with my father in April 2026. On the first Sunday of the month, admission was free. Although previously in Baia, Herculaneum and Pompeiji... Very different again. More nature and sometimes almost jungle-like... At least in spring. Special is the corridor/crypt! Absolutely. Goes also by bus and is quiet!

Excellent Cuma Tour
Ilaria was an excellent guide for our tour of Cuma. Her knowledge of the site and her passion for the subject made the tour very enjoyable (even in the sweltering heat). Her explanations of the Sybil cave and temples were very interesting. If you like learning the history of Naples, Ilaria will make this tour special for you.
Response from the operator: Thank you so much. I'm glad to hear that you enjoyed the tour of Cuma with me!

Great tour of the Phlegrean Fields: Cuma, Piscina Mirabilis, and Lake Avernus
I'm very happy that I chose Ilaria to tour the Phlegrean Fields: the archaeological site at Cuma, the Piscina Mirabilis, and Lake Avernus. Ilaria is an expert. Her knowledge of the sites was comprehensive. I felt not only that I had seen the sites, but even more received an education in the history and culture of the region that made the rest of my visit to Naples even more meaningful. She was also very efficient and professional in handling all of the preparations and communications. She was on top of everything the whole time, and generous with her helpfulness and answers to all my questions. I would book a tour with her again without hesitation. Thank you, Ilaria – you were great!!
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for this wonderful review. I'm glad that you really enjoyed the guided tour with me!

Tour in the ruins of Cuma with an archaeologist.: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Sorrento.
How much does Tour in the ruins of Cuma with an archaeologist. cost?
+
Prices start at $230 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Sorrento usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Tour in the ruins of Cuma with an archaeologist. take?
+
Plan for about 2 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Sorrento is not rushed.
Is Tour in the ruins of Cuma with an archaeologist. worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 59 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 10 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Sorrento, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Tour in the ruins of Cuma with an archaeologist.?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Tour in the ruins of Cuma with an archaeologist. suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Tour in the ruins of Cuma with an archaeologist.?
+
Around 4 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Sorrento can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Sorrento and add a light layer if any part of the 2-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Sorrento within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Sorrento?
+
On Outty we rank every Sorrento experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Pizza School with Wine and Limoncello Tasting in a Local Farm, Private Amalfi Coast Day Tour from Sorrento or Naples, Sorrento Farm and Food Experience including Olive Oil, Limoncello, Wine tasting. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Sorrento?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Sorrento?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
