DO NOT BOOK! Bad Listing, Itinerary hours are completely wrong, created many problems
I checked both the description and Itinerary, and they stated that this trip was supposed to last 11-12 hours, with a 6am pickup, and that we would reach the cave around 9am. We picked this tour specifically for this, as many tours stated they wouldn't arrive at the cave until 11, and back into Mexico City until 8 or 9pm. I messaged the provider through the Viator app the day before to confirm pickup, and did not receive any answer. Then at 9pm the night before (well after cancellation time...)they whatsapp'd me with completely different details, but we did not see as we were already asleep to prepare for a 5am wakeup. So when we woke up it turned out we would not get home until 9pm at night, and then as we made our way to the cave it was clear we wouldn't get there at 9am. We got there at 11am...I asked the tour guide about the advertised 5-6pm return time and he said "oh, that's not this tour". So whose tour were we on???? Our first complaint to Viator asking for a partial refund as we missed dinner reservations and had to cancel a morning activity the next day due to an exhausted young child, was met with complete indifference by them, the second complaint resulted in 10% back, not worth the effort and inconvenience. We will not be using Viator anymore as they do not take responsibility for bad listings.
Response from the operator: Thank you for your feedback, but it's not possible to plan logistics in advance since you have the option to cancel. The instructions specify that we will contact you one day before your experience via WhatsApp. Also, it's important to clarify that this is a shared tour, and in this case, breakfast took longer than usual

Why this scores 56
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Tolantongo hot springs from CDMX: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Mexico City.
How much does Tolantongo hot springs from CDMX cost?
+
Prices start at $2200 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Mexico City usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Tolantongo hot springs from CDMX take?
+
Plan for about 11 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Mexico City is not rushed.
Is Tolantongo hot springs from CDMX worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 56 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 16 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Mexico City, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Tolantongo hot springs from CDMX?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Tolantongo hot springs from CDMX suitable for kids and families?
+
The operator sets a minimum age of 4. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 11-hour running time when deciding.
How far in advance should I book Tolantongo hot springs from CDMX?
+
Around 6 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Mexico City can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Mexico City and add a light layer if any part of the 11-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Tolantongo hot springs from CDMX start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Mexico City within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Mexico City?
+
On Outty we rank every Mexico City experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Frida Kahlo VIP [Museum Tickets Included] Walk, Markets & Churros, Local Foodie Adventure CDMX: Tacos & more with Sherpa Food Tours, Mexico City Historical Centre Food Tour with 7 Tastings & Drinks. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Mexico City?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Mexico City?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
