A great experience
What a gem of an experience this was. Hugely enjoyable. Our hosts were welcoming and engaging. Everything was meticulously planned from the instructions on how to reach the venue to providing the recipes for us to take away at the end. This all meant that the experience ran extremely smoothly. Would recommend!

I learned to prepare a "Japanese mom Breakfast" - 100% recommend
I tried this workshop at the begining of June to learn more about Japanese cooking and I was very satisfied! I was taught a typical "Japanese mom breakfast" which included Miso soup, Tamagoyaki egg, grilled fish and other side dishes. It was very enjoyable and the instructor's English is very good! I was happy to converse openly with local people. Definitly recommend!
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your wonderful review! I'm so happy you enjoyed learning how to make a traditional Japanese mom's breakfast. It was a pleasure cooking and chatting with you, and I'm glad you felt comfortable during the class. Thank you for your kind words about my English—they really mean a lot to me! I hope you'll visit Japan again someday, and I'd love to cook with you again. Wishing you all the best!

One of my best experiences in Japan
Honestly i did not know what to expect at first because it was my first cooking class in Japan but I am extremely glad I went because it was one of the best experiences in my trip. If you enjoy cooking or just want to have a nice meal and learn about a Japanese household this is definitely for you
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for coming to our cooking class. It was a pleasure meeting you, and it was a wonderful experience for us too. When you return to your home country, please make lots of Japanese food! Machi&Hyu

Such a welcoming class!
I'd say this class is best for people who enjoy cooking and want to learn Japanese Home cooking that they can bring back home. The recipes are easy to follow even if you're a beginner and the teachers are very helpful with explaining the steps. It's not like a classroom where you're learning cooking theory and history. Instead you learn practical tips like marinading/cooking meat in a rice cooker, blanching/wringing spinach and how to fold Gyoza. I think even kids would enjoy it! It's perfect for an individual to attend or bring a friend! I took the class alone, but it wasn't awkward at all! They are so friendly and it felt like I was in my own mother's kitchen.
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We’re truly happy to hear that you felt comfortable joining the class on your own and that it felt like being in a Japanese home kitchen. That’s exactly the kind of warm, welcoming atmosphere we hope to create for every guest. It also means a lot that you appreciated the practical cooking tips—like using a rice cooker, preparing vegetables, and folding gyoza. We always try to focus on simple, useful techniques that you can easily recreate at home. We’re so glad you enjoyed the experience, and we would love to cook with you again anytime you visit Japan. You’re always welcome back! Warm regards, Machiko

Japanese breakfast class
Wow! This was the absolute highlight of my visit to Tokyo. I had seen Machikos videos on Instagram and was thrilled when I saw that it was possible to come and cook and learn from her! I chose the Japanese breakfast option and got to experience how to make actual Japanese home cooked breakfast meal. The food was delicious but even better, Machiko and Yoko were the kindest women and so patient, smart and helpful and able to answers all questions I had about Japanese food and culture!! I can 1000% reccomend this to any one visiting Tokyo.
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We are truly honored that our class was the highlight of your trip to Tokyo. It means so much to us that you found us through Instagram and chose to join our Japanese breakfast class. We’re very happy you enjoyed learning how to make a real Japanese home-style breakfast, and even happier that you felt comfortable asking questions about the food and culture. Your kind words about both me and Yoko truly mean a lot to us. Spending time with you made us feel so warm—almost like having a daughter in our kitchen. Your kind recommendation really encourages us to keep sharing Japanese home cooking with people from around the world. We would love to cook with you again anytime you come back to Japan. You’re always welcome! Warm regards, Machiko

Why this scores 72
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Tokyo Private Cooking Class: Ramen & Gyoza, Japan Home Experience: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Tokyo.
How much does Tokyo Private Cooking Class: Ramen & Gyoza, Japan Home Experience cost?
+
Prices start at $65 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Tokyo usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Tokyo Private Cooking Class: Ramen & Gyoza, Japan Home Experience take?
+
Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Tokyo is not rushed.
Is Tokyo Private Cooking Class: Ramen & Gyoza, Japan Home Experience worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 72 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 14 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Tokyo, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Tokyo Private Cooking Class: Ramen & Gyoza, Japan Home Experience?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Tokyo Private Cooking Class: Ramen & Gyoza, Japan Home Experience suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Tokyo Private Cooking Class: Ramen & Gyoza, Japan Home Experience?
+
Around 5 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Tokyo can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Tokyo and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Tokyo Private Cooking Class: Ramen & Gyoza, Japan Home Experience start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Tokyo within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Tokyo?
+
Tokyo is less a city than a stack of neighborhoods with completely different opening hours. A guided food crawl through Shinjuku's Omoide Yokocho gets you past the no-tourist curtains, while the day trips west to Hakone and Fuji need an early start to be worth the fare. Our ranking weighs guide quality heavily here, because in Tokyo the guide is the product. On Outty we rank every Tokyo experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Tokyo Shinjuku Chopsticks Making Class, Tokyo : Asakusa Chopsticks Making Class, Shinjuku Night Food and Bar Crawl. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Tokyo?
+
Late March to May for blossom, October to November for clear Fuji views. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Tokyo?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
