You could do this on your own, for the most part. Were the reviews for this written by verified participants?

There were two artists (one spoke English) and they were friendly, however we mostly worked on our own. I do not draw at all and I was really unsure about where to begin. I was told to just look at the picture and try. I was also told to read the printout on the table for more instructions. As for the history of Manga, the English speaking artist read from a few PowerPoint slides with bullet points (you could get more info from a single ChatGPT inquiry). It was not a bad experience. Just *very* expensive for what you get. My daughter is an artist who loves Manga. She sat and drew on her own. I was hoping she would learn something new, but she received no guidance or instruction. My mom literally *traced* a Pikachu in 10 minutes (with no guidance or encouragement). My husband likes to draw, so he did so on his own. I never draw so it wound up being nice to focus on trying to draw and the printout was useful. The artists provided all the tools (which included paper, pencil, fountain pen, eraser, marker, and grey stickers). We also got some nice iced tea and cookies and candy. The bottom line though is that we could have done 99% of this activity at home, without paying $80 per person. My mom was added to the class at the last minute (she was not a part of the booking) and our family members were the only customers in the room. The artists did not help her draw anything, nor did they encourage her, so they could have given her a discount. When I got home, I went back and looked at the reviews for this Manga Drawing Workshop. I am wondering if many of the reviews were written by verified customers (or were many of them just friends of the artists?). I don't know. I can only speak to our experience. I write honestly here so that people know what they are getting for their money and time.

Response from the operator: Thank you for joining our workshop with your family and for taking the time to share your honest feedback. We are sorry to hear that the experience did not meet your expectations and that the level of guidance and support provided was not what you had hoped for. Our goal is to give participants the opportunity to experience manga creation and learn about Japanese manga culture in a welcoming and creative environment. After reading your review, we understand that, particularly for first-time artists and for those hoping to receive more personalized instruction and feedback, our support may not have felt sufficient. We are especially sorry that your daughter, who is passionate about manga and art, did not receive the level of guidance she was expecting. We also understand your desire for each member of your family to have a meaningful and engaging experience, and we regret that we did not fully meet those expectations. We sincerely appreciate your comments and will use them to improve the workshop experience, including providing more individualized support and clearer guidance for participants with different skill levels and expectations. Thank you again for your valuable feedback and for spending time with us.

Tokyo Manga Drawing Experience Pro Artist Workshop & MangaHistory: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Tokyo.

How much does Tokyo Manga Drawing Experience Pro Artist Workshop & MangaHistory cost?

+

Prices start at $100 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Tokyo usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Tokyo Manga Drawing Experience Pro Artist Workshop & MangaHistory take?

+

Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Tokyo is not rushed.

Is Tokyo Manga Drawing Experience Pro Artist Workshop & MangaHistory worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 82 out of 100, which we label "Exceptional". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 65 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Tokyo, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Tokyo Manga Drawing Experience Pro Artist Workshop & MangaHistory?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Tokyo Manga Drawing Experience Pro Artist Workshop & MangaHistory suitable for kids and families?

+

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Tokyo Manga Drawing Experience Pro Artist Workshop & MangaHistory?

+

Around 23 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Tokyo can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Tokyo and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Tokyo Manga Drawing Experience Pro Artist Workshop & MangaHistory start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Tokyo within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Tokyo?

+

Tokyo is less a city than a stack of neighborhoods with completely different opening hours. A guided food crawl through Shinjuku's Omoide Yokocho gets you past the no-tourist curtains, while the day trips west to Hakone and Fuji need an early start to be worth the fare. Our ranking weighs guide quality heavily here, because in Tokyo the guide is the product. On Outty we rank every Tokyo experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Tokyo Shinjuku Chopsticks Making Class, Tokyo : Asakusa Chopsticks Making Class, Shinjuku Night Food and Bar Crawl. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Tokyo?

+

Late March to May for blossom, October to November for clear Fuji views. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Tokyo?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
