An excellent experience
Seden was our guide and she was incredible. From her knowledge, to being accommodating, and sharing extra information about places to go while in Japan, made this an incredible experience. Sensoji is a special place. Highly recommend.

Worse than awful
Absolutely the worst tour we have ever taken. Our guide did not teach us anything or take us through all of the places the tour said we would go.
Response from the operator: Dear Jessica, We're truly sorry to hear your Tokyo tour fell short of what was promised. Not covering the full itinerary and not delivering a meaningful experience is something we take very seriously, and your disappointment is completely understandable. Thank you for letting us know. Feedback like this helps us hold our guides accountable and improve the experience for future guests. We are looking into this and will be following up with the guide directly. Tokyo is an incredible city and we hope you still found moments of wonder during your visit. We would love the chance to give you the Withlocals experience you were looking for. Kind Regards, The Withlocals Team

Fun and Informative tour of Asakusa
Emanuel from Arigato Travel was the perfect guide to kick off our two week visit to Japan. Totally fluent in English, even multi-lingual, Emanuel was incredibly helpful in teaching us how to navigate Tokyo’s subway system. He didn’t just point things out — he walked us step by step on our phones on how to use Google Maps efficiently , giving us the confidence to get around the city on our own for the rest of the trip. That alone was worth so much. We felt he genuinely wanted to connect, not just lead us through this historic district of Tokyo. He took the time to learn about our backgrounds, share stories from his own life, and discover our travel interests, which made the entire experience feel personal and relaxed. The tour itself was well paced. Walking from our hotel, together we rode the subway train so we could start at the Asakusa Tourist Information Center. From its free observation deck on the 8th floor we got a sweeping view over the city including close-ups of the iconic Tokyo Skytree, and a unique overlook of the colorful Nakamise Street (packed with over 90 traditional shopping stalls) with nearby Senso-ji temple grounds. And then Emanuel brought us down to street level, weaving us through temples, bustling shopping stalls, and quieter corners we never would have found on our own. He asked about our preferences, timed our stops to avoid the worst of the crowds, pausing at spots en route for interesting perspectives for our photos, and even found a restaurant he knew we’d enjoy so we could sit, relax, and continue our conversation with our lunch. When our tour concluded, he then took us back on the subway to the location of our next event which was in a neighboring district. So much appreciated! We couldn’t have had a better and more thoughtful guide for our first day in bustling Tokyo!

Amazing experience!
We’ve taken tours all over the world, and my wife said at least five times that this was the best tour we’ve ever done. Shelina was incredible. We explored all of Asakusa, learned about the culture, tried local foods, and gained a real understanding of the temples and shrines—including how to properly pray at the shrines, which made the experience much more meaningful. She also went above and beyond by giving us restaurant recommendations for the rest of our trip and sharing tons of helpful local insight. We actually followed one of her recommendations right after the tour and are sitting here now enjoying a local beer she told us about. Doing this on our first day was the best decision—it gave us context for everything else we’ll experience in Japan. We highly recommend this tour. Absolutely worth it.

Why this scores 77
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Tokyo History: Sensoji Temple & Asakusa District Private Tour: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Tokyo.
How much does Tokyo History: Sensoji Temple & Asakusa District Private Tour cost?
+
Prices start at $32 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Tokyo usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Tokyo History: Sensoji Temple & Asakusa District Private Tour take?
+
Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Tokyo is not rushed.
Is Tokyo History: Sensoji Temple & Asakusa District Private Tour worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 77 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 33 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Tokyo, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Tokyo History: Sensoji Temple & Asakusa District Private Tour?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Tokyo History: Sensoji Temple & Asakusa District Private Tour suitable for kids and families?
+
The operator sets a minimum age of 1. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 3-hour running time when deciding.
How far in advance should I book Tokyo History: Sensoji Temple & Asakusa District Private Tour?
+
Around 12 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Tokyo can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Tokyo and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Tokyo History: Sensoji Temple & Asakusa District Private Tour start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Tokyo within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Tokyo?
+
Tokyo is less a city than a stack of neighborhoods with completely different opening hours. A guided food crawl through Shinjuku's Omoide Yokocho gets you past the no-tourist curtains, while the day trips west to Hakone and Fuji need an early start to be worth the fare. Our ranking weighs guide quality heavily here, because in Tokyo the guide is the product. On Outty we rank every Tokyo experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Tokyo Shinjuku Chopsticks Making Class, Tokyo : Asakusa Chopsticks Making Class, Shinjuku Night Food and Bar Crawl. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Tokyo?
+
Late March to May for blossom, October to November for clear Fuji views. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Tokyo?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
