Villa Adriana
Villa Adriana, the most beautiful Imperial villa, designed and built by Emperor Hadrian who did not like the Palatine palace in Rome, so during the last years of his reign he ruled the empire from Tivoli. Truly no emperor appreciated the palace created by his predecessors so much, but Hadrian detested the crowding, promiscuity, intrigue and chaos of Rome, where he resided as little as possible, traveling as much as possible.

Villa d'Este is one of the most notable and refined examples of Renaissance culture. By virtue of its innovative project and the creativity of the architectural components of the park (fountains, ornamental basins, etc.), it represents a unique example of a sixteenth-century Italian garden. Villa d'Este, one of the first gardens of wonders, served as model and had a decisive influence on the development of gardens in Europe. The complex, consisting of the palace and the garden, was built by Pirro Logorio on behalf of the Ferrarese cardinal Ippolito II d'Este who, having become governor of the Lazio city in 1550, wanted a residence suited to his new status. the structure forms an irregular quadrilateral and covers an area of approximately 4.5 hectares. The plan of the villa is irregular as the architect was forced to use some parts of the pre-existing monastic building.

Tivoli, Hadrians Villa and Villa D’Este
We spent almost 2 hours with our amazing guide Monica at Hadrians Villa. She was exceptionally knowledgeable. We then went to Villa D’Este and spent another 90 minutes there. It was a very in depth experience with fabulous things to see. Absolutely recommend this trip

Monica will be very happy to know that her knowledge and explanations helped make the visit so interesting and memorable. These two remarkable sites have so much history, beauty, and detail to discover, and we’re pleased that you had enough time to truly appreciate them. Thank you sincerely for your recommendation and for choosing our tour. We hope to welcome you back for another unforgettable experience in Italy.

Nice sites to see. The getyourguide was just a hired car, not a guide.
Car pick up and return to hotel was good. Driver spoke very little English. He offered no information, unless asked. Just dropped us off, at each site, handed us a map. We were on our own, guideless. In fact got lost at Adrian’s villa. Nice sites to visit . Nice to see a tivoli countryside. Nice getaway from Rome. The getyourguide tour was just a hired car to pick us up, drop at sites and return to hotel. No guide at all. Not what I expected.

Great historical...
Great historical perspective on Ancient Rome. Architecture design and structure is impressive. The fountains are spectacular. Archaeological recovery work is amazing. Take something to drink during the tour
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your kind review! We’re delighted to hear that you enjoyed the historical perspective on Ancient Rome and appreciated the incredible architecture, engineering, and archaeological restoration work throughout the experience. Rome truly is an extraordinary open-air museum, and we’re glad the beauty of the fountains and historic structures made such an impression on you. Thank you also for sharing the helpful suggestion about bringing water during the tour especially during longer walking experiences, it can make the day even more comfortable. We truly appreciate you joining us and hope to welcome you back for another unforgettable experience in Italy soon!

Worth going!!!
This private tour was definitely worth the extra cost. Both our driver and our guide were courteous and professional. We were picked up on time (and very much appreciated being met at our hotel). We had plenty of time to enjoy both sites without feeling rushed. Our guide was very knowledgable and answered all our questions. We especially liked the tour of Hadrian’s villa, as that site was truly exceptional from an historical perspective. The tour does not include a lunch stop, so be sure to have breakfast that morning! We did stop for something to drink, but there was no time to have a snack. (We were aware of this, so we are not complaining. It is simply something to note.)
Response from the operator: Thank you very much for your thoughtful and detailed review we are delighted to hear that you found the private tour worthwhile and that both your driver and guide made your experience so enjoyable with their professionalism and knowledge it is wonderful to know that you appreciated the visit to Hadrian’s Villa and had enough time to explore without feeling rushed we also appreciate your helpful note regarding the schedule as it can be useful for future travelers to plan accordingly we truly value your feedback and hope to welcome you again soon

Why this scores 73
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Tivoli from Rome: Hadrian's Villa and Villa d'Este, Half Day Tour: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Rome.
How much does Tivoli from Rome: Hadrian's Villa and Villa d'Este, Half Day Tour cost?
+
Prices start at $60 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Rome usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Tivoli from Rome: Hadrian's Villa and Villa d'Este, Half Day Tour take?
+
Plan for about 5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Rome is not rushed.
Is Tivoli from Rome: Hadrian's Villa and Villa d'Este, Half Day Tour worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 73 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.7/5 across 45 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Rome, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Tivoli from Rome: Hadrian's Villa and Villa d'Este, Half Day Tour?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Tivoli from Rome: Hadrian's Villa and Villa d'Este, Half Day Tour suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Tivoli from Rome: Hadrian's Villa and Villa d'Este, Half Day Tour?
+
Around 16 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Rome can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Rome and add a light layer if any part of the 5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Tivoli from Rome: Hadrian's Villa and Villa d'Este, Half Day Tour start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Rome within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Rome?
+
Rome runs on skip-the-line access. The Colosseum underground, the Vatican before opening, and the catacombs south of the walls all require a licensed operator, and the price gap between the good ones and the rest is smaller than you would expect. We rank by guide credentials, group size and how reliably the promised access actually materialises. On Outty we rank every Rome experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Rome Pasta and Tiramisu Class: Ravioli, Fettuccine & Fine Wine 5*, Pasta Making & Wine Tasting with Dinner in Frascati from Rome, Rome: Pizza & Tiramisu or Gelato Class with Flowing Fine Wine 5*. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Rome?
+
April, May, September and October. August is hot and half the city is shut. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Rome?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
