About this experience
If you want to see a side of Panama City that’s not normally visited by tourists and be immersed with locals, you must spend a day with Victor Perez, the founder of LOCAL IN PTY. He’s taking visitors to the neighborhood of El Chorrillo, just a few blocks from the trendy Casco Viejo historic district, but contrasting in every way. People normally perceive El Chorrillo as being run down with social problems, crimes, violence, and former gangs. You’ll find beautifully renovated colonial buildings, stylish restaurants, fancy bars, and boutique hotels. Nowadays, it is a safe area to walk around and very popular for tourists and locals. Learn how the rapid gentrification of Casco Viejo has left the surrounding areas and its people to be forgotten. When the government and private investors started seeing the potential of this area, they started removing the poor people from this area to El Chorrillo. When YOU support local businesses, YOU Ssupport a DREAM! The Man With The Panama Plan.

The real Panamá tour -El Chorrillo
What an unforgettable experience. This wasn’t a typical tourist tour, it was a chance to really understand the soul of Panama City. Víctor shared history, culture, community stories and real-life perspectives that you simply don’t get in the usual sightseeing spots. Walking through El Chorrillo felt safe, authentic, and full of life. We met locals, tasted food, learned so much, and left with a whole new appreciation for the people and resilience of this neighborhood. If you want a real cultural connection and a deeper look at Panama beyond the postcard, this is the tour. Highly recommend. Thank you Víctor for your passion and respect for your community. Five stars without a doubt!

Incredible Experience with LocalInPTY
Our group of 13 had an amazing time in Panama last week thanks to Victor and his team at LocalInPTY. From start to finish, Victor took great care of us. He was organized, knowledgeable, respectful, and always willing to go the extra mile. Along with Raul and his brother Mr. G in San Blas, they made our trip truly unforgettable. We spent four full days touring and loved every moment. Victor allowed us to customize our experiences, which made everything even more special. From San Blas to the walking tour, Panama Canal, Gatun Lake, lunch in Colon, and the Embera Village, every experience was memorable and well-planned. I can’t say enough good things about our time in Panama and the excellent service we received. I highly recommend LocalInPTY if you want a genuine, seamless, and enriching experience.

A Good Look at Panama City
The Cafe Coca Cola was fun. It has an interesting back story. Our guide, Jenny, knows her city well and clearly loves sharing it with visitors.

Do Not Book This Tour. It’s a scam!
DO NOT BOOK THIS TOUR! I was scammed! Tour operator did not show up and sent us an email stating we were not at the designated pick up place. After reading the glowing reviews, my husband booked the tour, and Victor did not meet us at the designated place. At approximately 2:50 (tour was scheduled for 3:00) A tour operator named Romero approached us, asked if we were there for a tour with Victor and told us Victor was sick. We then proceeded to contact Victor at the phone number listed in the confirmation email but no one answered. We called Viator customer service and no one answered. upon returning to our hotel we received an email message from Viator stating the tour operator came, and we were not there. We responded with the aforementioned details and Victor replied he was there and did not know Romero. That was not true!! We arrived at the designated pick-up one hour before tour. We stayed at the Sofitel hotel, and we asked them to book this tour for us and they stated they do not book with this operator and suggested we not book this tour. We should have listened. Now we are left trying to get our money refunded. I say this is a scam because as I write this, I realize that this person approached us, out of nowhere, asked if we were waiting for Victor, I said yes, and he said Victor was sick and could not come. Victor is saying he does not know who this person is. I do not know why a stranger out of nowhere with a tour operator badge would ask us if we were waiting for Victor.

Why this scores 70
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
The two faces of Panama - LOCALINPTY: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Panama City.
How much does The two faces of Panama - LOCALINPTY cost?
+
Prices start at $15 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Panama City usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does The two faces of Panama - LOCALINPTY take?
+
Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Panama City is not rushed.
Is The two faces of Panama - LOCALINPTY worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 70 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 16 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Panama City, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule The two faces of Panama - LOCALINPTY?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is The two faces of Panama - LOCALINPTY suitable for kids and families?
+
The operator sets a minimum age of 1. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 3-hour running time when deciding.
How far in advance should I book The two faces of Panama - LOCALINPTY?
+
Around 6 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Panama City can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Panama City and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does The two faces of Panama - LOCALINPTY start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Panama City within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Panama City?
+
On Outty we rank every Panama City experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Tour to a waterfall and Embera village with lunch included, Panama Canal With Entry Ticket & City Tour: Old Town & City Views, Legends of Casco Viejo Tour: Hidden Gems with Panama Vibes Tours. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Panama City?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Panama City?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
