An authentic and fun insight into Hanoi.

This was the best experience of our 2 week trip to Vietnam. Our main guide, Daniel, was very knowledgeable and we learnt so much more about Vietnam than we could ever learn from a museum. We (a family of 4 with 2 teenagers) loved learning about the history, culture and food of Hanoi in a fun and interactive way, zipping around the backstreets on scooters and stopping at local spots we could never find on our own whilst feeling safe and in good hands. A special mention to our wonderful guides and drivers, Daniel, Moon, Rosa and Dong who made this an experience we will never forget. Thoroughly recommend!

Great experience in Hanoi

Myself and two friends joined up for the Hanoi War tour. Very fun and informative experience. We zipped around Hanoi on motorbikes experiencing some local life while seeing some war monuments and learning more about VN history.

A must do in Hanoi 👌🏻

We had a fabulous private tour with Son (driver/guide) & two lady driver’s Chloe & Moon ❤️ It was very informative but in a relaxed & fun way. It’s great to see such passion and love of their own country & people. We enjoyed chatting with the crew & some lovely local food. This is an absolute ‘must do’ while in Hanoi. Good value for money.

Amazing! Fun, cool, informative trip around Hanoi on the back of scooters ! So awesome!

This was the best thing we did in Hanoi. Há is so smart, warm, cool, fun and professional. We felt very safe on his and his colleague’s scooters—what a fun and faster way to do a tour. Hà is so well-educated and has a truly delightful personality. We felt like we had know him for years. The history of war and of Vietnam more generally was concise and contextual. We had a wonderful noodle lunch and a super cool coffee shop visit at the end which was a highlight. Please don’t miss this! We learned a lot, had fun, and made a new friend!

Hanoi by motorcycle - safe, surreal and brilliant!

We did a organised motorcycle tour and there were three bikes for my parents and me. We toured a local market as well as two food stops alongside the main war sites. The lead guide Blue was promptly waiting for us in the lobby and kept us updated beforehand by WhatsApp. All three guides had fantastic conversational English and were happy to talk beyond the organised tour about their experiences and what life is like in Vietnam - it’s the best way to see the sites and zip around Hanoi and be immersed in the crazy traffic! Felt safe at all times - you won’t be disappointed!

The Original War Tour Of Hanoi: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Hanoi.

How much does The Original War Tour Of Hanoi cost?

+

Prices start at $45 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Hanoi usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does The Original War Tour Of Hanoi take?

+

Plan for about 4.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Hanoi is not rushed.

Is The Original War Tour Of Hanoi worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 69 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 25 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Hanoi, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule The Original War Tour Of Hanoi?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is The Original War Tour Of Hanoi suitable for kids and families?

+

The operator sets a minimum age of 5. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 4.5-hour running time when deciding.

How far in advance should I book The Original War Tour Of Hanoi?

+

Around 9 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Hanoi can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Hanoi and add a light layer if any part of the 4.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does The Original War Tour Of Hanoi start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Hanoi within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Hanoi?

+

On Outty we rank every Hanoi experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Ninh Binh Day Trip from Hanoi with Tam Coc or Trang An & Mua Cave, Ha Giang Loop Tour 4 Days 3 Nights with Ha Giang Vision Tour, Halong Bay Day Tour With Titop Island, Cave, Kayak & Lunch. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Hanoi?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Hanoi?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
