El Priorat’s landscape is composed of hilly Mediterranean slopes, winding roads that only very recently were paved, and tiny forsaken villages surrounded with vineyards and full of cellars. Thanks to the vision of a group of winemakers at the end of the 80’s and the hard work of many women and men, el Priorat nowadays produces some of the most prestiged wines in the world. Their formula is that of the greatest: very old vines, tiny productions, harsh dry weather and an almost religious winemaking culture. The obsession of the local producers of this region has transformed El Priorat. What was an economically deprived area where to carelessly grow grapes in great amounts is now a wine sanctuary. Here, productions go so low that very often winemakers bottle the grapes of one sole vineyard to make a great wine that differs from that of the next vineyard in the most interesting ways.

Tour guide Toni was excellent. This was my 2nd tour with the company. Pricey but well worth it. You won’t regret.

Outstanding private tours
My husband and I booked two private wine tours from Barcelona with Castlexperience. Both tours were outstanding and worth the cost. The guides, Victor and Javi, were personable and very knowledgeable about wine. By the time the tours were over, we felt like they were our friends. We've traveled all over the world, and the lunches on the tours were some of the best we've ever had. We enjoyed learning about the local grapes as well as the process for making cava. The wineries we visited provided high quality samples with no pressure to buy, but we ended up buying a few bottles to take home and also shipped some bottles to the U.S. Thank you Castlexperience!
Response from the operator: Dear Holly, We're amazed by such a review. First of all, we have to thank you deeply, not only for trusting us one time but two! It is really rewarding to hear from you these words of appreciation of the work of Javi and Victor, and of the work of the rest of team. We are happy that you enjoyed so much with us and learned a bit more about our wine culture. We trully hope that the rest of your stay in Barcelona was great, and if you and your husband ever come back, please contact us! Thank you so much, Castlexperience team

Relaxing, a tour for the senses
Discussing wine production with the Vintner while in the vineyard. Very knowledgeable. Really became aware of the complications of preparing wine... truly scientific and artful because conditions are different very year. The tasting was also very personal with the Vintner discussing the the taste of the wine as we ate different cheeses and bread. Been on many wine tours but i learned more on this tour than any others.
Response from the operator: Thank you for taking the time to share your recent visit to our tours, James! We are delighted to hear that you had an amazing time. We would love to welcome you again and thank you for recommending us! Warm regards, Castlexperience Team

Priorat wineries worth the trip
Our guide Pol was outstanding and the perfect host. Both wineries were hospitable, insightful, educational and fun. Dual winery was exceptional. We would highly recommend this as it was the highlight of our vacation. Not cheap but well worth the expense.
Response from the operator: Thank you for taking the time to leave a review for us we are very grateful. And we're happy you enjoyed the Priorat Private Tour and our guide Pol we will let him know.

Why this scores 55
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
The Essence of Priorat | Private Wine Tour from Barcelona: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Barcelona.
How much does The Essence of Priorat | Private Wine Tour from Barcelona cost?
+
Prices start at $398 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Barcelona usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does The Essence of Priorat | Private Wine Tour from Barcelona take?
+
Plan for about 10 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Barcelona is not rushed.
Is The Essence of Priorat | Private Wine Tour from Barcelona worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 55 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 6 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Barcelona, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule The Essence of Priorat | Private Wine Tour from Barcelona?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is The Essence of Priorat | Private Wine Tour from Barcelona suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 10-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book The Essence of Priorat | Private Wine Tour from Barcelona?
+
Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Barcelona can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Barcelona and add a light layer if any part of the 10-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does The Essence of Priorat | Private Wine Tour from Barcelona start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Barcelona within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Barcelona?
+
Barcelona's Gaudí sites are capacity-limited and the official timed tickets go first, so most of the market is resellers with a guide attached. We weight those heavily on whether the guide is an architecture specialist. Beyond Gaudí, the tapas crawls in Gràcia and the Montserrat day trips carry the highest rankings in the city. On Outty we rank every Barcelona experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Gràcia Tapas and Vermouth Crawl, Costa Brava Tour: Kayak, Snorkel & Cliff Jump from Barcelona, Costa Brava Tour: Kayak, Snorkel, Cliff Jump & lunch Small Group. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Barcelona?
+
May, June, September and October. Sagrada Família light is best mid-morning. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Barcelona?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
