The best of Córdoba private tour

Ok tour and guide but poor service

We had a private tour booked 5-7 pm the same day we arrived in Cordoba. Due to some unanticipated delays, we were running late. I tried to contact the agency via phone, WhatsApp, and email 4-5 pm to let them know and request if perhaps the guide could meet us closer to our hotel to save time. No response. When we did meet the guide at about 5:30 pm, she first started with an accusatory and condescending tone asking if we knew that the tour was booked for 5 pm and that she would still finish by 7 pm. The same message could have been communicated positively - not sure why you are late, perhaps there is a good reason, let’s see what we can cover by 7 pm. The tour ended up being alright. She was well informed and answered our questions well. Though I don’t know that I would pay €120 for this tour again for the poor and unprofessional service level.

Rushed through the Mosque-Cathedral

This review concerns the 4 Hour Private Tour. To be clear, this rating reflects the value of this tour from this vendor, not the quality of the guides. Our two guides were excellent and did their best with what they were given. But this vendor (Cordoba a Pie) did a poor job logistically and we cannot recommend the Private Tour, especially as compared to the far more affordable group tour with the same itinerary. We booked a private tour with Cordoba a Pie because we were day-tripping to Cordoba from Malaga on a cruise ship stop and needed a tour that was flexible to our needs and our train schedule. We made 4.5 hours available for the 4 hour tour. But for two weeks after booking, it was impossible to get a response (via email or WhatsApp) from Cordoba a Pie to be able to make travel arrangements or to book tickets to the attractions. They only began communicating with us after we said we would cancel. We were not able to customize our tour even though it was private. We started at the Cathedral Mosque, and although our guide there was excellent and managed to show us all the highlights and told us a lot of history, we only spent around 45 minutes in the Cathedral Mosque because this guide was not affiliated with Cordoba a Pie, and she had another tour booked at 11AM, which meant she had a hard stop at 10:50AM. The Mosque Cathedral is the largest and most well preserved sight on this itinerary and we could have easily spent two hours here, but Cordoba a Pie did not make arrangements to make that possible. In fact, they only booked our Mosque Cathedral guide the day before, even though we had booked our tour weeks in advance. This was disappointing. After this, we were handed off to a second tour guide for the Jewish Quarter and the Alcazar (this has never happened on any tour we have booked). He did his best, but these areas are not as well preserved and there’s just not much to see. The Jewish Quarter tour involved almost no Jewish history, and instead focused on Cordoba’s garden patios. That’s not what we wanted from this tour. We spent almost no time at the Alcazar, which was small and had few highlights. It was a letdown, especially after the Alcazar in Seville. As a result, our tour ended after a little over 3 hours instead of the original 4. To be clear, we did not rush our guide or decline to see anything he offered us, but 2 hours was the most he could stretch the Jewish Quarter and Alcazar, and we had been cut short at the Mosque Cathedral. We saw many other groups conducting tours of the Mosque Cathedral, Jewish Quarter, and Alcazar. For the price we paid, I wish I had booked a different tour that made the most of our time or just booked the group tour for less money.
