Tepuia and Free Action
Tepuia's cultural performances and Maori art making sites left a lasting impression on me. I applied without any optional activities, but when I told Alexandra, my guide, that I wanted to go to Rotorua's Agrodome, she took me as I saw fit. I am very happy to have had a very New Zealand experience feeding sheep and alpacas. Thank you very much.
Response from the operator: Thank you very much for your kind message and for sharing your experience with us. We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed the cultural performance at Te Puia and seeing the Māori arts in action—it truly is a special experience.Your satisfaction means a lot to us, and we’ll be sure to pass along your kind words to Alessandro as well. We hope to welcome you again in the future for more memorable adventures in New Zealand

Mauri, Kiwi birds, tree giants and other wonders of nature
The tour with our guide was great. Already on the way out, he clarified key facts about the country and always tried to keep the group together with its various visitor destinations. With patience, humor and always a smile on his lips, he led us through the day. This was filled with many New Zealand highlights, big and small, such as visiting a Mauri village with a traditional performance, visiting the Kiwi Bird family and in my case the Red Wood Forest with its gigantic trees. Finally, we could observe see see seething mud pools and majestic geysers. The day was rounded off with a sweet surprise, a Hockey Pockey TipTop ice cream.
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful review! I’m really glad you enjoyed the tour and that the mix of highlights—from the Māori village and kiwi birds to the towering Redwoods—made the day special for you. It means a lot to hear that the guide’s patience, humor, and smile helped bring the group together and made the experience memorable. And of course, no day in New Zealand is complete without finishing with a Hokey Pokey Tip Top ice cream! We hope to welcome you back again for more adventures.

Worth the money
Our tour guide was absolutely fantastic! From the start, they were welcoming, enthusiastic, and full of energy, which made the entire experience so much more enjoyable. They had great knowledge of the area and shared interesting stories along the way that kept us engaged. What stood out the most was how approachable and friendly they were – always ready to answer questions, help with photos, and make sure everyone in the group was comfortable. Their passion for what they do really shows, and it turned an ordinary tour into a truly memorable one. I would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for a fun, informative, and unforgettable tour experience!
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your wonderful feedback! We’re thrilled to hear you had such a memorable experience with your guide. Our team takes a lot of pride in making sure every guest feels welcome, comfortable, and engaged, so it’s fantastic to know that came through on your tour. I’ll be sure to pass your kind words on to your guide – they’ll be delighted to hear how much you enjoyed the day. We really appreciate your recommendation and hope we get the chance to welcome you back on another adventure in the future!

Rotarua
This was a good trip though it could have been better. Rotarua Village tour was amazing Daniel was a pleasure to listen too. And his love of his culture and nature was palpable. The dancers were also great. Alfy was very friendly. The bus was very bumpy and some of the travellers felt squished in. I would have preferred a spa with mud not just mineral baths. This could have been explained better. The coffee stops would have been better if we pulled into little towns rather than Service Centres. Compared to other trips I did in NZ this was the least value for money.
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for taking the time to share your thoughts with us. I’m glad to hear you enjoyed the Rotorua Village experience – Daniel is a wonderful storyteller, and the performers always bring such energy and heart to the day. I’ll also be sure to pass on your kind words to Alfy. I really appreciate your honest feedback about the bus ride, the spa visit, and the coffee stops. We’ll definitely take this on board as we’re always looking at how we can improve the experience for our guests. I would like to apologise that you felt the tour didn’t offer as much value compared to others you joined in NZ – that’s something we’ll reflect on carefully. Your comments help us see where we can do better, so thank you again for sharing them. I hope, despite some of the downsides, you still take away some good memories from your time in Rotorua.

Why this scores 65
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Te Puia Rotorua Experience with Optional Activities – Ex Auckland: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Auckland.
How much does Te Puia Rotorua Experience with Optional Activities – Ex Auckland cost?
+
Prices start at $200 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Auckland usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Te Puia Rotorua Experience with Optional Activities – Ex Auckland take?
+
Plan for about 11 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Auckland is not rushed.
Is Te Puia Rotorua Experience with Optional Activities – Ex Auckland worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 65 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 5 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Auckland, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Te Puia Rotorua Experience with Optional Activities – Ex Auckland?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Te Puia Rotorua Experience with Optional Activities – Ex Auckland suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 11-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Te Puia Rotorua Experience with Optional Activities – Ex Auckland?
+
Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Auckland can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Auckland and add a light layer if any part of the 11-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Te Puia Rotorua Experience with Optional Activities – Ex Auckland start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Auckland within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Auckland?
+
On Outty we rank every Auckland experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Hobbiton & Waitomo Caves Guided Day Trip from Auckland incl lunch, Hobbiton Movie Set Small Group Tour with Cheeky Kiwi Travel, Hobbiton & Waitomo Glowworm Caves Tour with Lunch from Auckland. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Auckland?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Auckland?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
