Outstanding tour with a culinary historian

Taking this food tour with Chris through Prague offered a rich introduction to cuisine, culture, and history. Chris is deeply informed about Czech culture, not only as a local but also from years spent researching and writing a recently published book on the evolution of Czech cuisine (Evoluce českého jídla); through that work, he gained even more depth of knowledge of the food and history, which emerged clearly in his stories. Chris paid close attention to detail and made sure we enjoyed ourselves; naturally, the food was outstanding, standing apart from other tours we have joined. He guided us to several upscale gems in Prague that serve authentic, well-prepared traditional dishes. This was a wonderful introduction to our stay, and we highly recommend it!

Highlight of our stay in Prague

Wow! Christian made us feel very welcome as we started the tour. His knowledge and passion about Czech food is inspiring. We loved the history of The Czech Republic and all the different topics we talked about. The food on the tour was amazing, the soup as a starter was the tastiest we've ever had (better than mine). We enjoyed walking off the food between courses. If you're coming to Prague make this tour a priority even if you're not a foodie.

Excellent walking tour of history and food

My spouse and I enjoyed a tour of Czech food and history with company owner/founder Christian who was well informed and quite passionate about his country and the food. We ate a lot of delicious food whilst learning about a culture and people that is very rich. There is some walking but very doable-our tour day was raining and still was not a problem! We made three main stops for food with a final coffee/dessert stop at the end. I ate more than enough and he was able to accommodate mine and my spouses pescatarian diet very adequately. Who knew there was such delicious fish in Czech Republic? I know now! Highly recommend Christian and this food tour!

Great food with a great guide

Christian was very personable and extremely knowledgeable. Not only does he talk about Czech traditional foods but took us to places where the traditional have a modern twist. The food and the beverages was fantastic. Highly recommend. You get a nice tour and fee well!

Response from the operator: Thank you Michael for your kind words. It was pleasure to meet you and your company. Keep up supporting genuine local food wherever you go!

Chris is a wealth of knowledge and makes sure you have a one of a kind experience eating and drinking through Prague

Such a great tour! We try to do a walking, bike, or food tour in every city we visit. And this one was one of the best we've had by far! Highly recommend doing this tour on day one or two of your arrival in Prague for many reasons. Chris knows and loves the food and history of his city. We learned a ton about the local cuisine and what sets Prague and The Czech Republic's food and drink apart from other places. Food is truly at the heart of every culture, so trying local cuisine sets you on a path for higher learning about why and how that cuisine came to be. This is where Chris shines as a guide who clearly has a ton of knowledge and passion about where he comes from. Walking around learning about the history of the city can also help you decide what you would like to explore further during your time there. There is so much more to a city than the tourist trap areas and instagram-worthy spots. Being able to speak with a local about what sets their city apart can help make the most out of your time there. Highly recommend this tour!

Taste your way through Czech food history: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Prague.

How much does Taste your way through Czech food history cost?

    +

Prices start at $130 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Prague usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Taste your way through Czech food history take?

    +

Plan for about 3.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Prague is not rushed.

Is Taste your way through Czech food history worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 66 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 43 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Prague, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Taste your way through Czech food history?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Taste your way through Czech food history suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Taste your way through Czech food history?

    +

Around 15 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Prague can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Prague and add a light layer if any part of the 3.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Taste your way through Czech food history start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Prague within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Prague?

    +

On Outty we rank every Prague experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Best Reviews: Bohemian & Saxon Switzerland Day Trip From Prague, Bohemian & Saxon Switzerland From Prague-Travelers' Choice 2026, Prague Essential Tour Old Town and Jewish Quarter. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Prague?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Prague?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
