    What a fantastic time!

Highly recommended tour! We throughly enjoyed every bit of this with our lovely guide Jenny who was very knowledgeable of everything Melbourne. We would never have gone to some of the places Jenny took us and we wouldn’t have had a clue how to get to them. From delicious fresh strawberries with the yummiest chocolate enjoyed in the most beautiful surroundings to vodka tastings in one of the oldest suburbs in Melbourne! What a treat! We could not have experienced this side of Melbourne without the lovely Jenny who was so friendly and easy to talk with and knew so many interesting things. We cannot recommend this tour more highly. Book it! You won’t regret it!

Response from the operator: A warm thank you for such a delightful review! It truly sounds like you had an incredible time exploring the hidden gems of Melbourne with Jenny. We're thrilled she was able to add so much to your experience with her vast knowledge and friendly demeanor. Sharing those memorable moments, from the delicious strawberries dipped in chocolate to the unique vodka tastings, is what we love to do at Local Way Tours. Jenny will be overjoyed to hear your lovely words. Your high recommendation means a lot to us, and we're so glad you chose to journey with us. Here’s to more adventures in the future!

    A fantastic Melbourne experience

We all thoroughly enjoyed this tour. Russell, our guide, was not only incredibly knowledgeable but also great fun. Even though we’ve visited Melbourne many times, we discovered places we’d never seen before and picked up some fascinating pieces of the city’s history along the way. The food tastings were an added highlight and made the experience even better.

Response from the operator: Thanks for choosing to explore the city with us! It's especially rewarding to hear that, despite having visited Melbourne many times, you were still able to uncover new places and stories on our tour. We're so happy to hear Russells knowledge and enthusiasm made such a positive impression and to hear you enjoyed our food tastings selected as a highlight! Thanks again for your fantastic review and hope we can welcome you back on one of our tours in the future :)

    Disappointing

Disappointed in lack of ‘tourist’ info, our guide was underprepared, needed maps for walking and driving sections and didn’t share any real gems as we would expect from a tour of this price and length. Lovely guy, chatty, but didn’t provide any depth to the tour - he led us and drove us and that’s about it. 2 of The inclusions we expected were missed. Venues we went to for food and drink had no seating available (so we weren’t expected) which made us feel like we shouldn’t be there.

Response from the operator: Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re really sorry to hear the tour didn’t meet expectations, particularly around the level of commentary and local insight provided throughout the day. This experience is designed to be more than simply moving between stops, so we’re disappointed to hear you felt there wasn’t enough depth, context, or “hidden gems” shared. Your comments around preparation and commentary are very useful, and we’ll be following this up internally with the guide team. Regarding the venues, we were expected at each stop. However, due to the operational requirements of some venues, we aren’t always able to guarantee seated service at every location. That said, we completely understand how it may have felt on the day, and we’ll review how we communicate and manage these stops so guests feel more comfortable and welcomed. Thank you again for the feedback. We’re sorry this wasn’t the experience you were hoping for, and we’ll be using your comments to improve the tour.

Taste of Melbourne: Food, Drink, Laneways & History Tour: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Melbourne.

How much does Taste of Melbourne: Food, Drink, Laneways & History Tour cost?

    +

Prices start at $98 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Melbourne usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Taste of Melbourne: Food, Drink, Laneways & History Tour take?

    +

Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Melbourne is not rushed.

Is Taste of Melbourne: Food, Drink, Laneways & History Tour worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 74 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 70 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most popular in Melbourne, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Taste of Melbourne: Food, Drink, Laneways & History Tour?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Taste of Melbourne: Food, Drink, Laneways & History Tour suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Taste of Melbourne: Food, Drink, Laneways & History Tour?

    +

Around 25 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Melbourne can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Melbourne and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Taste of Melbourne: Food, Drink, Laneways & History Tour start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Melbourne within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Melbourne?

    +

On Outty we rank every Melbourne experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Melbourne: Yarra Valley Wine, Gin, Whisky and Chocolate Tour, Yarra Valley Wine Tour w Exclusive Gin, Cider & Chocolate Tasting, Yarra Valley Wine Tour from Melbourne - Choc, Gin & Good Times. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Melbourne?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Melbourne?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
