Unfortunately, the tour guide did not show up so we cannot review this tour. It was unfortunate as we had only minimal time to explore Tangier and ended up wasting some of it because of this. That said Viator was quick to process a refund for us which I greatly appreciate.

    Very enjoyable and...

Very enjoyable and educational tour with Hana. She showed us the local markets inside the medina and introduced us to local dishes. A great way to learn about the the Old Town portion of Tangier.

    Tangiers in 3 hrs.

This tour did a great job in showing us around the old town and give us some great food to taste as we went along. Rabab was a great guide. The coffee and mint tea were top notch. Probably would pass on the meat market next time . It was an uphill walk from the cruise port but was doable.

    Foodie tour of Tangier

We had an enjoyable afternoon with our guide Rababe. She took us to different spots to sample various examples of Moroccan cuisine. She also toured us the Gran Socco showing us the market for fresh seafood, vegetables and small stores. Very much recommended.

Doable Day Trip and Fantastic Foodie Tour!

I can’t say enough good things about this tour with Mohammed as our guide. We were fortunate to be the only guests during our tour so we had a private guide for three hours. Mohammed first took us through the “new” city before guiding us through the Medina and souks. He explained more than just food traditions, but also a lot about Moroccan culture and politics. He is incredibly knowledgeable (with impeccable English as well as speaking many other languages and dialects) and he has personal relationships with many of the vendors we visited. All of the food we tried was new to us and delicious — amazing green tea with mint, local breads with cheese and honey, the best olives, dates and nuts, a fantastic smoothie, pea soup at a tiny local shop you’d never find on your own, and a fish pastry, then followed by a full meal of chicken and vegetable tagine and kebabs. You will not be hungry at the end of your tour! We did our tour on a day trip from Tarifa and the timing worked perfectly with the ferry. We stayed in an apartment in Tarifa (Puerta la Mar on booking.com) right by the port where we parked our car overnight, then we walked over in the morning to board the ferry that left at 9 am. We had the perfect amount of time after disembarking the ferry to walk to our meeting place with Mohammed (less than a mile, but you could take a cab), and then after the three hour tour, we had enough time to make it back for the 3 pm ferry back to Tarifa. Certainly wished we could have spent more time in Morocco and we hope to go back, but if like us, you’re seeing the south of Spain in a relatively short time frame, this trip is doable, and I can’t imagine having any comparable experience without Mohammed as your guide. Everyone we encountered was very kind to us, but we would not have known where to start on our own, and we learned so much that we never would have known without a guide. There are trips the start in Tarifa with a guide who will lead you on and off the ferry, but I doubt you would have the same experience we had with a local as knowledgeable as Mohammed (especially if you’re a foodie). If you’re debating this tour, all I can say is, we are so glad that we did it and we’d tell anyone who has a chance to do so!

Taste & Explore Tangier: Local Bites, & Souks: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Tangier.

How much does Taste & Explore Tangier: Local Bites, & Souks cost?

    +

Prices start at $91 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Tangier usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Taste & Explore Tangier: Local Bites, & Souks take?

    +

Plan for about 2.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Tangier is not rushed.

Is Taste & Explore Tangier: Local Bites, & Souks worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 72 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 49 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Tangier, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Taste & Explore Tangier: Local Bites, & Souks?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Taste & Explore Tangier: Local Bites, & Souks suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Taste & Explore Tangier: Local Bites, & Souks?

    +

Around 17 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Tangier can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Tangier and add a light layer if any part of the 2.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Taste & Explore Tangier: Local Bites, & Souks start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Tangier within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Tangier?

    +

On Outty we rank every Tangier experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include From Tangier Private Full Day-Trip to Chefchaouen, 7 days Tour from Tangier to Marrakech Morocco Tours, 3h Private Walking Tour in Tangier Kasbah Medina & Colorful Souks. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Tangier?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Tangier?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
