    About this experience

2026 Besties Award-winning original Tarpon Springs ghost tour. So good it was copied. Led by Ace Chapman — and long story short, it never is. Now in its fourth year, this is the original Tarpon Springs ghost tour, led by screenwriter and longtime local guide Ace Chapman. The history is real, researched, and specific — never borrowed, embellished, or sold as a paid upgrade. The tour covers downtown Tarpon Springs after dark, including the story of Marshal Ruben Jones, a lawman whose career and mysterious 1921 death remain part of local legend. The route passes the Cheney House, the Old Dry Goods Store, and the Old Saloon Building, home to a 1953 film's famous fight scene. Guests use dowsing rods at the Train Depot and a spirit box along the way. There's also Mary, a spirit documented turning her streetlight on and off on demand. No fake equipment. No scripted theatrics. No paid upgrades. 2026 Besties Award winner, Best Tour. Still the best one.

What a way to spend a Monday night!

It was fantastic! Our guide “Ace” was very polite and super knowledgeable. He kept things moving along with a history of all things Tarpon Springs and had all the cool ghost gadget's for us and our 14 year old son to stay engaged with. We will definitely be back for another tour, and very much recommend this tour for everyone!

Response from the operator: Tom, thank you for taking the time to leave this review. Ace is exactly the kind of guide we built this tour around — someone who knows the history as well as the stories behind it, and who can keep a 14-year-old genuinely engaged without dumbing anything down. That's not easy, and we're proud of it. We'll make sure he sees this. Tarpon Springs has a lot more to give, so when you're ready for round two, we'll be here. History and Ghost tour = fun night out!

We are from Pennsylvania and were visiting our friends who live in the Orlando Florida area and decided to visit Clearwater with them for a weekend. The ghost tour looked like a good activity for a Sunday night so we signed up. Ace was our tour guide and he couldn’t have been more kind or accommodating to our group. He certainly knows his stuff when it comes to the local history and educated us on many things related to Tarpon Springs, connections to Philadelphia business people, and many other fun facts before beginning our ghost tour. It was a fun night and we would recommend this tour to anyone wanting to learn about the history and hear some cool paranormal stories.

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for joining our Tarpon Springs Ghost Tour, Eric! We’re thrilled you and your group made us part of your Clearwater weekend. Ace is a wonderful guide, and we’re glad to hear his kindness, knowledge of Tarpon Springs, and all those surprising history connections—from local legends to ties with Philadelphia—made the experience memorable. We’re so happy you enjoyed both the haunted history and the paranormal stories. Thank you for the recommendation, and we hope to welcome you back for another Tampa Bay ghost tour the next time you’re in town! —Cynthia, Silent Slayer Ghost Tours

    Halloween

We were really looking forward to a fun, spooky evening on Halloween, but unfortunately the tour didn’t quite meet our expectations. It leaned much more toward a history talk than a true paranormal experience, and there wasn’t much in the way of ghost hunting or investigation. The guide seemed kind, but he spent quite a bit of time talking about his own experiences and insecurities, which made it a little hard to stay engaged. My husband even decided to head out partway through. We do appreciate the effort and passion that goes into organizing something like this, but overall it just wasn’t as exciting or interactive as we’d hoped for.

Response from the operator: Thank you for sharing your feedback, Krista. We’re sorry to hear the Tarpon Springs Ghost & History Tour didn’t meet your expectations. Our goal is to balance authentic haunted history with real paranormal exploration, and we understand that every guest’s experience can vary—especially when spirit activity is unpredictable. We appreciate your comments regarding the tour presentation and will review them with our team, including Ace. We’re glad you recognized his kindness and passion, and we’ll continue refining each experience to ensure guests enjoy both the storytelling and the interactive ghost-hunting elements. We truly appreciate your feedback and hope you’ll give Silent Slayer Ghost Tours another try in the future. Cynthia Dominick Silent Slayer Ghost Tours

    Too much history not...

Too much history not enough ghost . The gùìde kept saying how nervous he was. It was off-putting. A tour guide should be confident

Response from the operator: Thank you for your feedback, Robert. We appreciate every guest who joins our Tarpon Springs Ghost & History Tour. Tarpon Springs Ghost Tour: Haunted History & True Crime: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Clearwater.

How much does Tarpon Springs Ghost Tour: Haunted History & True Crime cost?

    +

Prices start at $40 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Clearwater usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Tarpon Springs Ghost Tour: Haunted History & True Crime take?

    +

Plan for about 1.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Clearwater is not rushed.

Is Tarpon Springs Ghost Tour: Haunted History & True Crime worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 68 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.7/5 across 21 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Clearwater, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Tarpon Springs Ghost Tour: Haunted History & True Crime?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Tarpon Springs Ghost Tour: Haunted History & True Crime suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 1.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Tarpon Springs Ghost Tour: Haunted History & True Crime?

    +

Around 7 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Clearwater can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Clearwater and add a light layer if any part of the 1.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Tarpon Springs Ghost Tour: Haunted History & True Crime start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Clearwater within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Clearwater?

    +

Clearwater Beach fills its calendar with dolphin cruises, pirate-themed family sails, parasailing, jet ski tours around Caladesi Island and sunset trips off Pier 60. On Outty we rank every Clearwater experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Little Toot Dolphin Adventure at Clearwater Beach, Clearwater Encounters with Dolphins Tour, Clearwater Beach Parasailing Experience. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Clearwater?

    +

March to May and October to November for warm water without peak crowds. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Clearwater?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
