Not what we were hoping for

My wife and I recently took the Tanah Lot and North Bali Tour All Inclusive, hoping for a culturally informative experience. Unfortunately, this was not the case. Our tour director, Gede, was a safe and courteous driver, even under extreme conditions, which we appreciated. However, we primarily enjoy tours to learn about the places we visit, their history, cultural significance, and interesting facts from a knowledgeable local guide. That did not happen on this trip. Gede spoke very little English and was mostly silent during the ~10-hour tour. When I asked questions, the response was usually just “yes,” which made it clear there was a language barrier. At each site, he dropped us off without any explanation or background, leaving us unsure of what we were looking at or why it was important. We now feel the need to do our own research to understand what we saw, something we had hoped the guide would provide. If you're simply looking for transportation between sites and don’t mind figuring things out on your own, Gede might work for you. But if you’re looking for local insights or having your questions answered during a tour, I would not recommend this guide. Additionally, while the tour advertised bottled water was included, when we asked for some, he either didn’t have any or didn’t understand what we were asking for.

Response from the operator: Thank you for taking the time to share your detailed feedback. We truly appreciate your kind words about Gede’s driving and professionalism, and we’re very sorry to hear that the experience did not meet your expectations in terms of cultural guidance and communication. We fully understand how important it is for travelers to gain insight and understanding from a local guide, not just visit the sites. We sincerely apologize for the language barrier and the confusion regarding the bottled water. Your comments have been shared with our operations team, and we are already working on ensuring that all guides assigned to cultural tours have strong English proficiency and provide in-depth explanations at every stop. We genuinely value your feedback as it helps us improve our service quality. Please don’t hesitate to contact us directly — we’d be happy to make it right on your next visit. Warm regards, Andre & The Travelnata Team

Incredible experience with an incredible guide.

The tour was incredible and our guide Rah made it even more enjoyable with his very caring, respectful and lively attitude. Bring your swimsuit cuz tour includes this beautiful twin waterfall where you can have a little swim (water is only chest deep so even if you can’t swim, it’s a great place to just enjoy the water) The lunch at the rice terraces was yummy with beautiful views of the rice terraces. Rah was very knowledgeable about the routes, timings and local culture so it was all very efficient and we learned a lot of Balinese words about different local architectural components, the 6 parts of the traditional Balinese house and food among other things. For me, being in the water under the waterfall and aunset at Tanah lot were the highlights of the tour. Overall 10 out of 10.

Tanah Lot and North Bali Tour All Inclusive: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Ubud.

How much does Tanah Lot and North Bali Tour All Inclusive cost?

    +

Prices start at $50 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Ubud usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Tanah Lot and North Bali Tour All Inclusive take?

    +

Plan for about 10 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Ubud is not rushed.

Is Tanah Lot and North Bali Tour All Inclusive worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 64 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.4/5 across 5 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Ubud, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Tanah Lot and North Bali Tour All Inclusive?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Tanah Lot and North Bali Tour All Inclusive suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 10-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Tanah Lot and North Bali Tour All Inclusive?

    +

Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Ubud can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Ubud and add a light layer if any part of the 10-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Tanah Lot and North Bali Tour All Inclusive start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Ubud within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Ubud?

    +

On Outty we rank every Ubud experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Mount Batur Jeep Adventure, Best of Ubud Full-Day Tour with Jungle Swing, Full-Day Tour to Water Temples and UNESCO Rice Terraces in Bali. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Ubud?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Ubud?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
