What you'll see and do

  1. Sangeh Monkey Forest

Monkeys dominate the wildlife of Bali, and there are plenty of Monkey Forests around the island available as tourist destinations. But compared to the popular Ubud Sacred Monkey Forest. Sangeh Monkey Forest sadly is the one less recognized. Fortunately, Sangeh can be a good alternative for travelers looking for monkey forest to visit with fewer crowds. It is also located not far from Denpasar, on Brahmana Road, Sangeh Village, Badung Regency. Sangeh is unique because of the nutmeg trees covering most of the area. Historians argue that once upon a time, an ancient community planted those trees deliberately.

  2. Taman Ayun Temple

The temple was constructed in 1634, a project that was overseen by I Gusti Agung Putu, the then-Raja of Mengwi. The temple underwent major restorations in 1937 and still stands as an important temple today. It is not uncommon to hear the locals referring to the temple as the ‘Pura Kawiten’ and represents a place of honour for the ancestors of the Raja Kingdom in Mengwi. Pura Taman Ayun is surrounded by canals which means that the only way to access the temple is through a bridge that leads to the split gate, locally known as candi bentar. The splendid gate leads to the first courtyard, which is the outermost section of the temple. This courtyard then leads to a pond and majestic nine-jetted water fountain before opening up to the second gate. This second courtyard is a bit more elevated and it leads to the third and the most sacred courtyard that is home to the holiest shrines. The inner courtyard hosts festivals during the celebration of the temple’s inauguration which happens after every 210 days and last for a couple of days.

Jungle Swing with Monkey forest

Swinging and visiting the monkey forest with our driver Komang was very pleasant. Last Friday we went to the Sangeh Monkey Forest after swinging. In the Sangeh monkey forest we saw a lot of monkeys, in the middle of the forest we saw a temple called Pura Bukit Sari, it was a beautiful temple. In Pura many monkeys at first we were very scared to see many big big monkeys, but there were officers who guarded so that the monkeys did not disturb us, the forest was very beautiful. Pak Komang very friendly,he gave us additional tour at no additional cost. After visited Sangeh monkey forest we went to Bedugul Beratan side temple. Thank you Pak Komang. In the not too long time we will come again to met with Pak Komang to visit more beautiful places in Bali

How far in advance should I book Taman Ayun Temple, Sangeh Monkey Forest, Swing included Transport & Lunch?

+

Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Kuta can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Kuta and add a light layer if any part of the 8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Kuta within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Kuta?

+

On Outty we rank every Kuta experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include East Bali Tour: Gate of Heaven, Water Palace, Sleeping Gajah, Ubud Day Tour: Sacred Monkey Forest, Tegenungan Waterfall, Rice Terrace, Bali 5 Days and 4 Nights Private Tour - Best and Famous Site. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Kuta?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Kuta?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
