    Wonderful Alaskan adventure!

We booked this because it was different than what the cruise line offered and very thankful we did. Our adventure was amazing. With the combination of the helicopter ride coupled with the air boat made for a great experience.

    Exceptional once in a lifetime

Initially the tour was cancelled due to bad weather. The operator called And kept us informed and offered us a later time: the weather cleared and we were able to do the tour. The helicopter ride was great, the airboat was a really great add on.. loved it. Then to land on the glacier was out of this world!! Amazing, well organised and a must do!

The Highlight of Our Alaska Adventure! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Our helicopter and airboat excursion to the Taku Glacier was, without question, one of the most unforgettable experiences of our Alaska trip. From start to finish, everything was exceptionally well organized, and the staff made us feel safe, welcome, and excited for the adventure. The helicopter flight was absolutely breathtaking. The aerial views of Alaska's mountains, rivers, forests, and the massive Taku Glacier were beyond anything we could have imagined. Every moment in the air felt like something out of a postcard, and the pilot was knowledgeable, pointing out landmarks and sharing interesting facts along the way. Landing near the Taku Glacier was incredible, but the adventure didn't stop there. The airboat ride provided a completely different perspective, allowing us to get up close to the glacier while taking in the stunning scenery surrounding us. The beauty and peacefulness of the area were simply awe-inspiring. We got to see wildlife up close and personal: eagles, seals, moose, porcupines, and, beavers. After the airboat, we got back on the helicopter and landed on the Taku Glacier. It was an unbeliveable experience. We were able to walk around and get water from the glacier. If you do this excursion - DO NOT FORGET A WATER BOTTLE. The water was so blue that it looked like a mirage. What made this excursion even more special was the professionalism and friendliness of the ENTIRE TEAM at NorthStar Helicopters. They clearly love what they do, and their enthusiasm made the experience even more enjoyable. If you're visiting Alaska and looking for a once-in-a-lifetime adventure, I cannot recommend this excursion enough. It was worth every penny and created memories that will last a lifetime. Without a doubt, this was the highlight of our trip!

Taku Glacier Helicopter and Airboat Adventure: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Juneau.

How much does Taku Glacier Helicopter and Airboat Adventure cost?

    +

Prices start at $688 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Juneau usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Taku Glacier Helicopter and Airboat Adventure take?

    +

Plan for about 3.3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Juneau is not rushed.

Is Taku Glacier Helicopter and Airboat Adventure worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 50 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 18 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable outdoors in Juneau, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Taku Glacier Helicopter and Airboat Adventure?

    +

No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.

Is Taku Glacier Helicopter and Airboat Adventure suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3.3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Taku Glacier Helicopter and Airboat Adventure?

    +

Around 6 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Juneau can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Juneau and add a light layer if any part of the 3.3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Taku Glacier Helicopter and Airboat Adventure start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Juneau within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Juneau?

    +

Juneau runs Mendenhall Glacier trips, whale watching in Auke Bay, helicopter glacier landings with dog sledding, and rainforest hikes. Most tours are timed to cruise ship windows, so we weight clear duration and pickup detail. On Outty we rank every Juneau experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Juneau Wildlife Whale Watching, Juneau Wildlife Whale Watching & Mendenhall Glacier, Whales and Wilderness Exploration. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Juneau?

    +

May to September, peaking for humpbacks in June and July. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Juneau?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
