Fabulous experience hiking above Capetown!
Marié and her adorable dog, Otto were a delight! We learned so much from her about the flora of the Cape Garden Kingdom. We did an easy hike in the hills above Camps Bay. The sandwiches for lunch and all the snacks she brought were fabulous. Really impressed by the coffee pot and fixings that Marié pulled out of her bottomless backpack! Highly recommend for hikes of whatever level required!
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your kind words. Otto and I LOVED hiking with you on Table Mountain. Hope to see you next time you're in Cape Town! Best wishes, Marie

Fabulous
Our family hike in Table Mountain with Marié was truly incredible. She combined professionalism with a genuine love for nature and made sure all safety measures were in place so we could enjoy the trails with our children with complete peace of mind. The experience was tailored to our family, educational, fun, and we saw places we never would have found on our own.
Response from the operator: Dear Steve, It was such a fun experience to hike with you and your family. Table Mountain has about 350 different routes, so there's always something new to explore. I'm glad you enjoyed it, and hopefully we meet again for another adventure next time you visit. Best wishes, Marie

Klipspring Hikes is the BEST!
A fantastic experience from the very first email exchange. Marie provided in depth and friendly responses, thoroughly answering all my questions. She arrived on time (a few minutes early!) the morning of our hike and brought extra packs/water for our family of five. Marie allowed us to hike at our own pace and provided words of encouragement and interesting facts about local flora and fauna during the ascent. DO NOT miss the delicious breakfast (both the egg sandwich and pancake options felt like we were eating at a gourmet cafe instead of mountain side with incredible views). Marie was quick to suggest alternate options as the heat/sun were more intensive than originally anticipated. She led us down Woody's Ravine, which offered a shady respite, while still boasting gorgeous views. The kids all voted this descent was their favorite part :) I'd be remiss if I didn't mention Otto, the hiking dog, who always came to check on the slowest hiker (me). Marie made us feel safe, supported, and brave on this unforgettable family adventure. I would wholeheartedly recommed Klipspring Hikes!
Response from the operator: Dear Caitlin, Thank you so much for sharing your experience - we really appreciate you taking the time. Especially glad we could keep the day flexible and find the right pace for your family - that’s often what makes the difference between a tough hike and a really enjoyable one. And yes, Woody Ravine is a bit of a secret weapon on hot days - shade, views, and just enough adventure to keep things interesting. We're very happy the Bold Brew breakfast lived up to expectations too - mountain coffee and a proper sandwich (or pancake) with a view is hard to beat on Table Mountain. And Otto will be pleased to hear he was doing his job properly, keeping an eye on the back of the group. Thank you again for trusting us with your Cape Town hike - it was such a pleasure sharing the mountain with you all. Warm greetings, Marié (and Otto)

Marie is a professional and great hiking guide. I felt 100% safe with her and around the hike she gave a lot of interesting information. The tour was really flexible planned and I always would go with her! Highly recommended!

It was such a pleasure hiking with you on Table Mountain and looking forward to take you on more mountain adventures next time you're in Cape Town! Warm greetings, Marié

Totally professional guide for a 'must visit' in Cape Town
My sister is a hiker, I'm not! And when you see Table Mountain for real you know they mean SERIOUS hiker. Not one for the flip flops brigade! Table Mountain visits either seemed to be a) Serious hike b) Cable car ride and take your selfie. I wanted a proper visit to the mountain to learn more about it and walk safely and easily round the area. I contacted Marie who responded positively immediately. Serious hikes are her business but she could oblige, no worries. On the day we had a hotel pickup for the first cable car ride to beat the heat of the day (30+ degrees). Once on top we took in the views and started walking the trail. This is prepared/concreted for the first part of the trip but eventually you are walking on a genuine trail through the fynbos - that vegetation unique to this part of SA. Marie told us all about the different kinds of plants and showed us some flowers. Also threw in some history of the Cape, including that of her own family, as we walked around and chatted about all kinds of things. Marie is someone who has turned a serious interest - hiking - into a successful business and is very professional. I am not totally doddery, but not in any sense a hiker, and Marie was very patient with the pace and I felt under no pressure. Table Mountain may be relatively flat but there are a few rocks and some short areas to climb but a helping hand was generously given at all times. Marie had prepared a light b'fast for us along with coffee and English Tea (by request) which was had sitting under the shade of a rock. You get away from the crowds on the this trip (which were quite considerable by the time we got back to the cable car). It was unseasonably hot in Cape Town for mid-March and I suddenly didn't feel great as we drove back down. Marie stopped immediately and I got out for some fresh air. Take water with you of course and more will be provided by Marie who will remind you regularly about about drinking (+ a splash of water on your hat to keep your head cool). She is a First Aider so if you come unstuck you are in good hands. Thanks! Robin and Jill (UK)
Response from the operator: Dear Robin and Jill, Thanks so much for this - I really appreciate you taking the time to share it. I’m really glad you found your way onto the mountain without needing to become a “serious hiker” overnight. There’s a quieter side of Table Mountain that most people miss when they stick to either the cable car or the big routes - and that is exactly where I love to spend time. It was such a pleasure walking with you both (and navigating that unexpected Cape Town heatwave together). I’m especially glad we could pause for that shaded coffee and breakfast spot along the way - one of my favourite parts of the experience. You handled the heat like a trooper, and I’m very glad we could take things at the right pace and keep it comfortable all the way through - that’s where a private hike really makes all the difference. Thank you again for trusting me with your time on the mountain - it was an absolute pleasure. Warm greetings, Marié

Why this scores 65
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Table Mountain Guided Hike – Safe, Scenic & Tailored to You: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Cape Town.
How much does Table Mountain Guided Hike – Safe, Scenic & Tailored to You cost?
+
Prices start at R 1,790 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Cape Town usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Table Mountain Guided Hike – Safe, Scenic & Tailored to You take?
+
Plan for about 3.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Cape Town is not rushed.
Is Table Mountain Guided Hike – Safe, Scenic & Tailored to You worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 65 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 28 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Cape Town, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Table Mountain Guided Hike – Safe, Scenic & Tailored to You?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Table Mountain Guided Hike – Safe, Scenic & Tailored to You suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Table Mountain Guided Hike – Safe, Scenic & Tailored to You?
+
Around 10 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Cape Town can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Cape Town and add a light layer if any part of the 3.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Table Mountain Guided Hike – Safe, Scenic & Tailored to You start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Cape Town within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Cape Town?
+
On Outty we rank every Cape Town experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Cape Town: Lion's Head Sunrise/Sunset Hike, Hike Table Mountain or Lions Head in Cape Town Like a Local, Cape Point and Boulder's Penguins Full Day Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Cape Town?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Cape Town?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
