In a small group with a maximum of eight people we will spend 3-4 hours offshore with the Humpback whales. There are over 35,000 Humpbacks on Australia's East coast so sightings are guaranteed although the whales decide if they want to swim with us. Our skipper is highly experienced swimming with whales around the World and is very familiar with identifying happy and curious whale behaviour. Our group size is kept to a minimum of just eight swimmers to increase the chances of a unique and special encounter. Despite their size humpbacks can be shy and large groups of people in the water are definitely not ideal for a good whale interaction. To keep you warm we have 5mm freedive suits with hoods and quality masks and fins. Our boat is fast and comfortable and gets us to the Whales quickly.

Absolutely Amazing - You Won’t Be Disappointed

Amazing Tour!!!! Great Guides! Scott and the crew were amazing. The boat is absolutely perfect, 360 views, plenty of room (no fear of FOMO) & very well equiped. The crew were very patient and informative and created a great fun atmosphere. Whales love reggae…. who knew?! Highly recommended as they bent over backwards to provide an amazing service and accommodate everyone - perfect!

Excellent tour with a reasonably priced and professional company

Went out for the swimming with whales tour with this company. It was an amazing experience. Professionally run with staff who care about your experience. We saw loads of whales and other marine life such as dolphins, a hammerhead shark and a turtle! It was a new boat with good storage and the tours are reasonable priced compared with competitors in a similar area. Will be booking to go back again!

    Whale Swimming is Awesome

This is a once in a lifetime experience that I believe everyone should take! That is, if you can swim well and aren’t afraid to be open ocean. It was absolutely breathtaking and I would do it again and again. We had Darius and Marlin as our skipper and guide and they were friendly and informative. Even when I began to feel a bit sea sick they checked in on me and still gave me fun info about the area to distract me. The whales are very fast so you’ll just catch a glimpse in the water but I loved every second.

    Book elsewhere!

Terrible, misleading & rude owner. Spent 350$ to swim with whales and ended up doing Whale Watching plus having a rude and condescending email exchange with the owner.

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Gold Coast.

How much does Swim with Whales in Gold Coast cost?

How long does Swim with Whales in Gold Coast take?

    +

Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Gold Coast is not rushed.

Is Swim with Whales in Gold Coast worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 48 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (3.5/5 across 8 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most popular in Gold Coast, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Swim with Whales in Gold Coast?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Swim with Whales in Gold Coast suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Swim with Whales in Gold Coast?

    +

Around 3 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Gold Coast can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Gold Coast and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Gold Coast within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Gold Coast?

    +

On Outty we rank every Gold Coast experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include 2 Hour Ultimate Learn to Surf Adventure, Gold Coast Whale Watching Cruise, Mount Tamborine Wine Tasting Tour from Brisbane or the Gold Coast. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Gold Coast?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Gold Coast?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
