Unsafe and unsanitary! Do not book!

DO NOT BOOK THIS EXCURSION! It was truly horrendous, unsanitary and unsafe. My family and I went. Three sons aged 10, 7 and almost 2 years old. My son was holding the food on the skewer as instructed. (We have done this prior and had NO issues) the pig charged and attempted to attack him twice. The first snap missed his arm because I was able to pull him completely away. The pig came back for a second attempt and my son didn’t have the food at that time as I took it away and was holding it up as instructed. The tooth grazed his arm, as I again snatched my son away from danger. If I didn’t intervene he would have been severely bitten. The staff was alerted in the moment and did nothing. I witnessed at least two other families voice concerns to staff as well and were essentially ignored. The pigs raided the staff cooler eating snacks and soda making the food and snacks storage container unsanitary and unsafe for consumption. The ad says unlimited snacks and drinks which can not be safely consumed due to the danger of being attacked by the wild pigs. They literally will charge at you for the food. The pigs were not trained or responsive to the “rules “ we were educated on when arriving. The staff was also reckless in allowing the jet skis, banana boats to be operated in the same area as people swimming. The one jet ski was not working properly and did not turn to one side. Again reported and ignored by staff. The island itself was filthy with trash all over the place. A visible ladder by the shore line. Again we have done excursions in the past and have never experienced this. I reported all of the above to Viator and was given a $220.20 refund. Which is completely disappointing and unsatisfactory. My excursion cost over $1200. I was unable to provided pics because I was literally carrying my terrified children to keep them away from the wild pigs that were untamable. I couldn’t turn my back for a second and honestly taking pics was not at all my priority and super disappointing to have that used against me.

Response from the operator: Thank you for your feedback on the “Swim with the Pigs and Explore Caves in Nassau” activity. We’re deeply sorry to hear it felt unsafe and unsanitary. We take your concerns seriously and are actively investigating to ensure our standards for safety and cleanliness are met. We’re committed to improving and providing an enjoyable experience.

Don't trust this tour operator

Booked this tour specifically for the jet skis, banana boats and lunch as stated in the description. I had seen much cheaper tours for swimming with the pigs but chose to purchase this tour for $299 per person due to those other elements. On the day of our tour Ken picked us up at the cruise ship port and drove us to "the cave" which was a small space on the side of the road. It was interesting but took all of 5 minutes to check it out. We were then taken back to port where we boarded a small boat and taken to Atholl island for the pigs. Another 5 minutes to feed the pigs. Then just sitting on the beach. There was no lunch provided. By "snacks" they meant a small bag of chips. They did give you a ? Six ounces cup of pre-made rum punch. There were no jet skis or banana boats. When I inquired I was told "we only do pigs". There was in fact NO jet skis or banana boats. I dont think there ever was. This tour operator is not a reputable service provider. They advertise these items but do not deliver what you paid for. I paid a ridiculous amount of money for 3 people and did not get half of what we paid for. DO NOT USE THIS TOUR OPERATOR. They are deceitful and have no intention of honoring the activities you pay for. There are much cheaper options with other tour operators if you want to see pigs. DON'T believe this tour operator. You will be disappointed.

Response from the operator: Dear Nicole K, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback about your recent tour with us. We’re truly sorry that your experience fell short of expectations, and we appreciate the chance to address your concerns. We understand your disappointment regarding the jet skis and banana boats, which were advertised but not available during your tour. On the day of your visit, rough seas caused by a tropical storm that passed through a few hours earlier made it unsafe to operate these water activities. For your safety, we made the difficult decision to exclude them from the tour. To acknowledge this change, we applied a 20% discount to your booking. We also want to clarify that our tour description includes snacks (such as the chips and rum punch provided) rather than a full lunch, and we apologize if this was unclear in our advertising. The cave visit and pig-feeding on Atholl Island are core parts of the experience, and we’re glad you were able to participate in these. Your feedback is invaluable, and we’re reviewing our communication processes to ensure guests are informed in advance about weather-related changes to activities. We’re also working to make our tour descriptions as clear as possible to avoid confusion. Thank you and we apologize again for any inconvenience caused by the circumstances. Best regards,

Do not book this “tour”

This experience is a bit of a bait and switch. We were picked up by our host and then dropped off to another boat tour. The tour was NOT a pleasant experience. The other guests on the boat paid a small fraction of the price we paid. The beach was covered in glass. Not well kept at all. The cave was a trash filled “cave” on the side of the road. I do not recommend this excursion. It was my Birthday gift and I was very disappointed.

Response from the operator: Thank you for sharing your feedback about our tour. We’re truly sorry to hear that your experience did not meet your expectations. Your input is incredibly valuable to us. We’re committed to improving and providing memorable experiences for all our guests.”

Not worth the money

The upside is that (1) the pigs were cute; (2) all the serving people were friendly. The downside is that (1) for unknown reasons, I was not taken to the cave; (2) compared to similar tours on TripAdvisor, this tours was worth at most USD 179 in my opinion, but I was charged USD 299.

Response from the operator: After further investigation you communicated to the driver that after you returned from the activities on Athol Island, you wanted to stay downtown and walk around which meant that you didn’t want to continue on the trip to the Caves.

Highly Recommend!

Wonderful experience and well worth the money! We had someone pick us at, at our hotel and bring us to the boat. His name was Ken. He also drove us to the caves and gave us a lot of history on them. He was a wonderful tour guide and taught us so much about the Bahamas. Rose Island was beautiful. We fed and played with the pigs, went jet skiing, paddle boarding, banana boat rides and drank rum punch. The staff were freindly and very helpful. I highly recommend this excursion.

Response from the operator: Thank you for your comments! It was a pleasure having you & your family tour with us? Thanks again for using Bosstrips.com while in Nassau, Bahamas!

Swim with the Pigs and Explore Caves in Nassau: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Nassau.

How much does Swim with the Pigs and Explore Caves in Nassau cost?

+

Prices start at $269 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Nassau usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Swim with the Pigs and Explore Caves in Nassau take?

+

Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Nassau is not rushed.

Is Swim with the Pigs and Explore Caves in Nassau worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 48 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (3.7/5 across 11 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Nassau, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Swim with the Pigs and Explore Caves in Nassau?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Swim with the Pigs and Explore Caves in Nassau suitable for kids and families?

+

The operator sets a minimum age of 3. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 4-hour running time when deciding.

How far in advance should I book Swim with the Pigs and Explore Caves in Nassau?

+

Around 4 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Nassau can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Nassau and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Swim with the Pigs and Explore Caves in Nassau start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Nassau within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Nassau?

+

On Outty we rank every Nassau experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Bites of Nassau Food and Walking Tour, Rum Tasting and Food Walking Tour in Nassau Bahamas, Pirate Jeep Sightseeing Adventure!. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Nassau?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Nassau?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
