It was the main residence of the emperors of the Mughal Dynasty until 1638 and one of the finest Mughal forts in India. The imposing red sandstone fort combines both Hindu and Central Asian architectural styles. Walking through courtyard after courtyard of this palatial red-sandstone and marble fortress, your amazement grows as the scale of what was built here begins to sink in.

Shah Jahan built the Taj Mahal in memory of his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal, but do you know there’s another Taj Mahal in Agra, which was also built out of love. One such unexplored and well-kept secret of Agra is the Red Taj, also known as John Hessing Tomb built entirely in red sandstone. But unlike Taj Mahal, the Red Taj was built by a wife in memory of her beloved ‘man’ and this man was called John Hessing a Dutch soldier who died fighting the British. The only things missing in this tomb of Col John William Hessing are the four minarets like the Taj Mahal. It is said that his wife ran out of money, and hence they had to be removed from the original plan.

Evening proceed to a Photo Tour of Taj Mahal from Mehtab Bagh — the moonlit garden — believed to have been designed by Shah Jahan to view the Taj on moonlit nights, far away from the maddening crowd, The garden complex is situated on the left bank of Yamuna opposite to TajMahal. It is a huge square measuring approximately 300x300 m and in straight alignment with the Taj Mahal. The forestry plantations and agricultural fields provide a green forecourt to TajMahal and its reflection in the Yamuna. Here you can witness the sunset over the Taj Mahal. At the end of the day, your guide returns you to your hotel, Agra train station or other desired location in Agra.

Great support
Yesterday my wife and I had the opportunity to visit one of the most wonderful places on earth, the Taj Mahal, and three other sites in India. This experience was made infinitely better thanks to the great service we received from Classic Pacific Tours India whom we hired to drive us to the sites and and supplied us with a guide. Our driver Sharma was always punctual, safely navigated through the difficult traffic and made sure we stayed hydrated. The guide Mahesh was EXCELLENT. He was very knowledgeable, patient and took the time to make sure we understood every detail about each and every site. In addition he is also a good photographer who made sure we caught the best angles possible. We had an awesome experience with Mahesh and Sharma

Great adventure
We traveled to India from the U.S.A. to have a great adventure and we certainly have with this private tour company. We have taken many different private tours on this same trip with this same company. For Agra we had Mahesh as the tour guide and D.K. as the best driver in the world. D.K. made sure we were safe and Mahesh made sure we were well taken care of. We had bottled water always available and clean restroom stops. We were in a spotless clean spacious private car. Mahesh gave us the important background to understand better what we were about to see. Although we had researched this part of India when planning the trip, we were taught so many more things by the knowledgeable Mahesh! This really added a lot to the places once we were there. He assisted us in taking photos and knows all the best spots. Due to our being of retirement age, I must give highest compliments to Mahesh for being so patient and helpful because we were slow walking and needing help with stairs. The tourist sights are flocked to for a good reason - They are overwhelmingly great! Due to the constant attention to our itenerary, we felt like we got a good bargain for our cost. We were more impressed with the touring than we ever expected to be, and we have traveled to more than 50 countries! Our great adventure would not have been possible without the help of this wonderful private tour company.
